A tiller, the hunt

I have a deadly serious problem with the EPS on my 2003/53 Vauxhall Meriva. The power steering cuts out as I'm driving along. This has happened many times. This is DEADLY. There should be a factory recall and repair free of charge by Vauxhall. They have equipped their cars with a faulty product that should never have been allowed near any car production line. I would be very grateful to hear from anybody who has had any response from Vauxhall resulting in a free fix. Otherwise I can see an expensive court case for Vauxhall when someone has a serious accident that has been caused by this fault.

This is a problem that seems to occur with significant numbers of Merivas. I get 2 - 3 reports every week. It’s included in car by car breakdown at www.honestjohn.co.uk I have already alerted BBC Watchdog, but the more owners who do so the better chance there will be of having a VOSA safety recall ordered and of getting this essential repair made free of charge. You should also inform www.vosa.gov.uk Unfortunately, but the time this appears, GM might have closed Vauxhall/Opel down due to the recession.
