Something nissing

I own a 2004/54 Nissan Micra, which has done 13,500 miles and was
chosen as a retirement car. I thought being English/Japanese it would be reliable, but I went to start it and the management symbol was lit and it would not start. I called out the recovery and they said it was the accelerator sensor, they took it to Nissan and. I was really shocked as the bill came to £451. Do you think a car of such low mileage and age should have this problem?

You aren't driving it far enough. Had you added some fuel system cleaner to the tank, filled up with Shell V-Power petrol and taken it for a 50 - 100 mile run on the motorway, extending the engine to 5,000rpm for short bursts occasionally, it might have cleared. Though the mass airflow sensor is in the throttle body and that is a well-known failure for Micras driven low mileages.
