Recession - proof

I did a great deal after your advice. I got a diesel CR-V for £1,000 less than their original price for a petrol version. My query is that no one has mentioned the 10 months road tax that will still be on my car when I trade it in. Would it be bad form to take the disc off and cash it in, or am I asking for bother with the dealer, who has doubtless noticed how long the vehicle is taxed for. I don't want to do anything that's unfair or unreasonable but it seems daft to just hand over the potential refund.

Entirely up to you. I'd feel like a cheat if I did this, so wouldn't. But do make absolutely sure that keepership is transferred. If you don't get confirmation from the DVLA within 4 weeks you have to phone 0870 240 0010 and make sure keepership is transferred, otherwise you could be liable for back tax and a SORN fine.
