Legend in its own lurchtime

I bought my Yaris 1.3 MMT last September and within days I complained to the dealership about the jerking gear changes and the fierceness of the brakes. After a few calls the dealership said they would come back to me but never did. Now 8 months down the line the problems still exist. My close friend who has a back problem has refused to ride in it as it is too uncomfortable for her and I must admit I don't get pleasure out of driving lt. I have been in touch with the dealership again this week and there opinion is that what I am experiencing is characteristic of the car and the MMT system although they have just lent me a similar car and my first impression is its a smoother ride than mine. Is anyone else having these problems or is it just me as they said no one else has complained??

Others have written that the latest Yaris MMT is much improved. But it is a characteristic of the drivetrain if you don't drive it the right way. In between each upward gearchange the electronics shut down the fuel supply to reduce the torque reactions on the transmission. If you try to compensate for this by pushing the accelerator harder you will feel a horrible lurching effect. You need to be much gentler on the accelerator pedal, then your progress should be relatively smooth.
