Should I avoid the i-Shift when buying a Honda Jazz?

I was adamant in buying a Honda Jazz for my wife as this ticks the boxes with the size, price and spec of the car. Now after reading some of the reviews about the i-Shift gearbox I'm getting convinced not to? Is this the right thing to do?

The i-Shift is pretty poor. It was replaced by a CVT early in 2011 - we'd stretch to one of those if possible.
