Last July I purchased 4 new tyres after 33,000 miles. They were fitted by a well-established company. Two weeks ago my car failed an MoT for having directional tyres fitted the wrong way round. Whatever all that means. How can ordinary drivers know of such things? Was it a legitimate reason to fail for such an item? What is a directional tyre?

A directional tyre is a tyre designed to roll one way only. There are
arrows on the sidewall showing the direction the tyre is to rotate. The fault is with whoever fitted them and your remedy is against them.
