My husband was a victim of a crash for cash incident - what can we do?

A few weeks ago, my husband was driving in rush hour. A car in front of him suddenly reversed back into him. There were four people in that car in front, a man took a photo of my husband’s car and then drove off immediately. The crash was not big and caused no damage to my husband’s car. When the car in front drove off, my husband took a photo of that car. We have just got a letter from the police and my husband is accused of dangerous driving and not reporting a traffic accident. We are shocked and don’t know what to do? There’s no camera in the car and my husband found that there’s no CCTV in the place where the incident happened. What can we do?

The first thing your husband should have done was immediate contact the police. The very fact someone did what they just did should have screamed out what was going on, why would they do what they just did to do nothing after? He must under the road traffic act either exchange details or as is the case in this situation report it to the police. What your husband must do now is contact the police and advise what happened. He must also contact his insurer and advise that he insist this is a "vexatious claim" and is fraudulent. Report it to www.insurancefraudbureau.org/cheatline/
