Guilt edge
Is everyone aware of this Government’s intention to deprive motorists of the right to a Court hearing before Magistrates? The fixed penalty system has been systematically extended over the last twelve years to include all manner of alleged offences. It is not only a disgrace that an accused be threatened with an increased penalty should he have the temerity to question the facts, but the new system whereby anyone asking for a court hearing will be responsible for the court costs even if found not guilty beggars belief. If only everyone would exercise their right to a Court Hearing the system would collapse within 6 months.

That’s one reason why they’ve proposed it. To discourage motorists from defending themselves. But it’s still an outrage against justice There is a Number 10 Petition against the proposal at: petitions.number10.gov.uk/CostsRecovery/
