Audi A4 Avant 1.9 TDi - Brake problems Audi A4 B6 1.9TDI 3 Oct 2019 (Forum)
I drove the car again for about 10 miles up dual carriage way and a little bit of B roads. I understand that new discs and pads get hot but this was ridiculous compared to the O/S which was luke warm. The next stage having agreed with my mechanic is to see how they bed in over the weekend, to no avail. I have looked through the cars history, and have noticed that it has had issues with the same front N/S brakes before. -

Street robbery - pavement people assessment 14 Jun 2011 (Forum)
I`ve been aware of people surrounding me, in public, for many decades now - the work just made you like that and the tendency was strengthened by travelling in South East Asia. It`s intrusive at first, but then becomes second nature as you scan the pavement in front for familiar faces, and certain characteristics - the awareness of what`s behind you and the right angle turn as an unknown potential threat closes in on you from behind. -

My most enduring apprentice, how`s yours? 11 Feb 2008 (Forum)
But still no luck in finding a suitable apprentice for role reversal experiences all those years ago and now the enduring apprentice has undergone response habituation to the kitchen bolt leaving me alone outside with the flies. How`s your `apprentice` ? better luck? Regards ;) -
how oily can a flywheel be? Primera 23 Feb 2004 (Forum)
(and over 1000 miles of \'bedding in\' allowance) Or is that just completely not feasible, and it MUST be the clutch itself that\'s faulty or somehow been fitted incorrectly?? -
Stories from a car plant 5 Sep 2003 (Forum)
My Sister in Law's husband used to be a foreman in a well-known Merseyside car factory in the 1970's. He died some years ago and my sister in law and I were reminiscing the other evening. She told me the following stories. I thought that they might amuse forum members. It was quite usual for a car to be specially made for a manager or supervisor. -

Category D insurance 24 Aug 2025 (Forum)
I’m considering buying a 2015 Cat D - the pre-2017 equivalent of Cat N. I’m satisfied that the car’s in good condition, it has been on the road since 2017 with full service history. This would be my first Category car. Could someone with real world recent experience tell me about insurance? -
n/a - HGV speed limiters 1 Aug 2025 (Forum)
I understand the brakes are applied if the lorry overshoots going down an incline. However, apparently the legal limit has been 60 mph since 2015 and I assume that HGV operators were choosing a lower setting, possibly to reduce fuel costs. At the moment I am condemned to a twice-daily commute between the M1 Junctions 8 and 11, fortunately outside the rush-hour both times. -
Thinking of buying car which had the keyless optio 24 Apr 2025 (Forum)
I've had BMW's for a while all old and the current one is a 2007 car. I've been looking at a Mercedes GLE, 350d. The car was made in 2015, late model, w166, - 135 thousands miles and FSH via various garages and 4 owners. According to the spec, the then new owner opted not to have the keyless. Therefore, could this car started by thieves as they do with keyless start cars by driving off without a key. -
What did she choose? 12 Mar 2025 (Forum)
In this thread: https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/199755/toyota-yaris-2015 I mentioned my daughter had bought her first car which she picked up tonight. So based on her criteria what do you think she opted for? She's almost 19, passed test on 7 March 2024, had almost a year as a named driver on our Yaris, is working full time and now needs a vehicle. -

Renault Clio - consumer rights 3 Jun 2024 (Forum)
I am concerned that the 6 month statutory rights period will be finishing soon and the dealer is just wasting time. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, any faults appearing within the first 6 months are assumed to be present also at the time of purchase. A customer doesn’t have to prove it. However, after 6 months, the onus is with the customer to prove. -

Honda Civic - Honda civic 2012-2017 Engine choice. 25 May 2023 (Forum)
Hello everyone, I'm on the lookout for a 2012-2017 Civic with a top budget of 5k-5.5k ish so mainly looking at pre 2015 cars. My preference was a 1.8 petrol but I read on a few forums about excessive oil use in earlier models due to faulty piston rings but there was no definitive answer on what years were effected. -
