  My father in law has asked me to look up buying a Ford Focus Soft Top, which I believe will not be available in this country for a couple of years yet. Does anyone here know of any companies that would be able to import one for him. Having never owned an imported a car myself would aslo like any thoughts on pros and cons of purchasing this vehicle in this manor.

  I am currently looking for a hot hatch in the region of £12000 and have decided on either the Ford Fiesta ST or the Seat Ibiza FR. Can anyone suggest which to go for? Does anyone own either of these cars (user road tests)? Performance and Fuel economy read very similar but im just not sure.

  Ford Fiesta, 1999 - brakes are squealing. Plenty of pad material, and discs look fine. Can anyone offer any advice before I start pulling the rear drums apart? Also, the caliper guide pins on the front discs seem to require some sort of enormous allen key.

  I assume it should have been serviced at 12-13,000 miles. Will the warranty still be valid. I haven't approached a Ford dealer yet, just wanted some info in advance. Grateful for advice.

  My Ford 6006 CD changer doesn't seem to be working. When I press LOAD it says 'WAIT' for about 30 seconds and then says 'CD ERROR E3'. Anyone got any ideas what the problem might be? It's out of warranty, so any pointers as to what the fault might be would be useful.

  Hi I have a Mk4 Ford Fiesta Flight 16V registered in 1997/1998. I have recently started to hear what can be described as a clicking noise coming from the offside front wheel after I apply the footbrake. This always occurs, irrespective of how quickly I apply the footbrake.

  I have a 91 Ford Orion this morning as I was coming off a roundabout it made an awful clunking noise from one of the rear axles almost like something had collapsed. It handled OK afterwards and wasn't leaning to one side or anything.

  Hi recently hired a ford focus TDCI. A number of observations. Car had very little low end torque and thus had to work the gearbox, certainly found the car struggled when in 4 th gear at 30mph. Relatively poor mpg as well average of 42mpg.

  I am looking at buying a new Focus from either Motorpoint or Trade Sales. Having spoken to both I am still a bit in the dark regarding the Ford warranty and how it applies to cars purchased via this route. Basically - will I get the same 3 year Ford warranty I would get from a dealership? Can anyone who has bought a Ford from either of these let me know.

  I have a J reg ford fiesta 1.1 pop plus. It is a great car which I have run for many years. It seems to have developed a leak on the drivers side door, which I cannot stop. I have had the rubber door seal checked and there is nothing wrong with it.

  When the vehicle was purchased everything worked Ok but some time after the first service, I noticed the cruisecontrol did not work. Investigation revealed that the relay had been removed. I purchased a replacement from Ford but when fitted the headlights came on! Any thoughts? I believe the fuse box has been replaced prior to me buying the car.

  Does anyone know of a locking device that will prevent spare wheels on Ford Fiestas and KAs being stolen? I have had 2 go in the last couple of weeks, one from a KA, which was not noticed until literally 5 minutes before the swap for a Fiesta, which also had its wheel removed 2 weeks after purchase :-( This was in broad daylight, outside the office, on a fairly busy road in an area considered to be good.

  Mobil 1 oil is usually recommended on this site, especially by Honest John. Is it really better than other synthetic oils, such as Halfords own brand? Ford say that only SAE 5W-30, or possibly 5W-40 oil should be used in the Focus. Mobil 1 is 0W-30, so is it OK to use? Or would I be better off using Halfords oil, which comes in 5W-30?   Now I own a more technically advanced car, I am a bit wary, especially as Haynes have not yet produced a manual. But as Ford quotes £160 for a 30000 mile service, I am tempted to have a go, especially as the service schedule looks pretty straightforward. Am I likely to run into any problems? Many thanks.

  I HAVE 1999 ZX2 FORD ESCORT THAT DEVELOPED AN OVERDRIVE PROBLEM THE CAR WILL SHIFT THRU 1,2,3 GEARS BUT WONT GO ONTO OVERDRIVE IT WAS RUNNING ALONG IN OVERDRIVE AND JUST DROPPED OUT. IT HAS NEVER WENT BACK INTO OVERDRIVE AGAIN.

  my 1994 escort tdlx doesnt seem to get hot until i have driven about 20 miles, the local garage (very good) wont touch it as the whole dash and steering wheel inc airbag have to be removed to access the heater, so have recommended the ford dealer 25 miles away, by which time the heater will be working, and i will have a bill for about £300. is this a design fault or a common problem with diesel escorts?

  I was intending to get a model year 2000 one via Ford Direct, I have now read that they had a lot of problems with the auto box, which came from Mazda. What is the situation now. Has anybody experience of them. I am to take a test drive in one this week, a feb 2000 registration, I won't take this one until I find out what's going on, It's also the wrong colour.
