Audi Service 29 May 2001 (Forum)
I have an Audi A6, which I purchased from new and have serviced according to the manual. last year I went to collect it from it's service and the dealer tried to charge for changing the brake fluid, it is recommended for change at two yearly intervals, I pointed out that it had been changed the previous year and was shown as such in the service book, I did not therefore pay for it, when I got home I looked in the service book, which had been left in the car prior to collection, no note was made of the fluid change! -

Ford Mondeo IV (2007 - ) - Booking a service, do I take the "extras"? 15 Feb 2010 (Forum)
http://tinyurl.com/ycn7pwy Looks like the service is £175 (I am assuming that the first 12 month service is an interim service), but on the form there are 4 items that they claim are "Ford recommendations", specifically: * Air con treatment * Pollen filter replacement * Oil-top up * Brake fluid change Elsewhere on the page there are prices for the pollen filter (£39.99), the air con treatment (£29.99) and the brake fluid change (£55). There is no indication of a price for the oil top up. -
Ford Fusion 1.4 TDCi smoke problem 19 Apr 2007 (Forum)
I use Millers fully synthetic XFD 5w40 in the car. I spoke to the dealership this morning and they have told me the problem is being caused by the oil. They said fully synthetic oil is causing the EGR valve to stick. I believe this to be complete rubbish, and I think I am being fobbed off. I've spoken to Millers Oils this morning and Ford approve Millers XSS 5w30 (semi-synth), so I am going to change onto this in the next couple of weeks. -
Nissan Almera 1.4 knocking 18 Jul 2006 (Forum)
I started to suspect a gearbox driveshaft bearing so removed the gearbox filler plug and a trickle of oil came out, so it wasn?t low on gearbox oil. I emptied the gearbox oil and the magnet on the drain plug had some swarf attached to it but it didn?t seem excessive (how much is excessive?). I refilled the gearbox with oil as described in the Haynes manual. -
Volkswagen Golf - Automatic VW Golf won't change into 4th gear 29 Aug 2018 (Forum)
My Volkswagen Golf, 2003 automatic model has problems changing from 3rd to 4th gear. For the first 5 minutes of the journey gear changing is fine, changing into 4th with no problems. But after around 5 minutes of driving the car will go from 3rd to 4th and straight back down to 3rd. -
Xsara gear change 28 Feb 2005 (Forum)
As far as I know the oil in the gearbox has never been changed - would this help. Also, I'm thinking that because it's difficult to pull out of gear, something might need to be adjusted clutch-wise. Interestingly, it's a lot better when the car is warm or it's been sitting in slow moving traffic with the clutch depressed for a while. -
Honda CR-V - Car Servicing 25 Oct 2017 (Forum)
I have ordered new filters and will replace them. I told HOnda my complaint and they said the airfilter was changed last year and is good for two years, and the engine filter was changed last year and is good for three years or 36,000 miles. They confirmed that they had changed the oil and oil filter and other servicing had been done. -
2006 KIA Sorento 2.5 diesel - Any problem in using a low SAPS oil in older car? 9 Apr 2016 (Forum)
I’d prefer fully synthetic as he isn’t too keen on regular oil changes and from reading other forums I am opting to use 5w30. I have found some Mercedes brand low SAPS 5w30 fully synthetic on eBay for £35 for 10l and £55 for 20L which seems to be a very good price. -

Hi All, Just bought an MX3 (1.8i V6 version, 1996 at 77k). It needs a service soon, so I'm gonna start with the oil and work my way along. Now I know about the HLAs, and how they can get clogged up.
