Toyota Yaris - MOT retest: labour charges for faulty bulbs? 23 May 2015 (Forum)
Yaris 1.0 petrol, 2002 What's your estimate of a fair price for £45 MOT test + oil & filter change + same-day retest due to faulty light bulb on rear plate? The final £140 bill seemed a bit steep. Light bulb costs pennies and takes a minute to change. -

Service on 95k VW Polo 96 19 Jul 2007 (Forum)
I have no idea when the last service was and the timing belt has no date sticker on. I think I could probably manage to change all the filters, replace sparks and change the oil myself but if the car needs a service anyway, would I be better off leaving it for when it gets serviced? -

1000 mile service 31 Mar 2002 (Forum)
Been looking at my friend's new Rover 45 handbook again, and was amazed to find that there seems to be no 1000 mile free service, nor even a recommendation to change to oil and filter then. Is this usual these days? I said if I were him I'd change it anyway - am I a) dreadfully behind the times or b) abnormally prissy? Any opinions (preferably supporting me!) -

The car is high miliage (nearly 130k) and its the 3 cyl 1.0L engine and it gets very regualr oil changes. No smoke. Does anyone have any experience of this? Could it just be hydraulic tappets running for a second without oil or is it something more serious? -

520d SE automatic; 2007 - automatic gearbox service intervals 6 Oct 2010 (Forum)
My car has covered 33K and BMW confirm that the gearbox is sealed for life and that they do not recommend any service to them. To me as an ex engineer this sounds incredible, my investigations reveal that the oil deteriorates with time and/or constant use and that oil and filter on auto boxes should be changed at circa 35K, have BMW found the holy grail or do they just ignore the auto servicing. Any experience out there will help.
