Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 96 1.3 Endura Engine, Petrol - Oil leaking into co 24 Jun 2009 (Forum)
I've had a problem with my car for a good few months now. It goes through oil like nobody's business. No noticeable leaks under car either. I have now started to notice oil in my coolant system. Having looked into this on other forums, it was suggested that i may have a breach in the head gasket. -
Peugot 306 1.9TD Oil Leak 9 May 2001 (Forum)
The above car which is a 1998 40K has an oil weep seemingly from the sump gasket at the rear near to the bellhousing. An alloy sump is fitted. My query is that on aprevious 405 I had the same problem in exactly the same area. It had a steel sump but despite changing the gasket twice and using high temp silicon sealant the second time it still weeped. -
Mazda 3 - mazda 3 1.6 diesel oil temp minus 40? 1 Nov 2019 (Forum)
its a 2006 mazda 3 1.6 diesel. since changing the air flow sensor and cleaning the egr valve out and doing the DPF re-gen it is running alot better and the turbo is engaging as it should. i just dont want the DPF to clog up again so want to get this oil temp reading sorted. -
Renault Grand Scenic II 2009 - MOT emission failed by large margine 5 Nov 2022 (Forum)
Today test results (required norm given in parenthesis): CO (max. 0.2%) measured 7.28% HC (max 200pm) measured 495ppm Lambda (0.97 - 1.03) measured 0.77 My question is, do you think that changing air filter, oil and maybe cleaning air sensor could be enough to bring those measurements back within the limits. Looking how far the numbers are from the norm I'm considering if it is even worth changing oil in this car as I fear it might be going straight to the scrapyard regardless of what I do :( -

It is stated that electric cars will be much cheaper to service than petrol/diesel. Is this actually the case? -
BMW 318i coupe (51 reg) - Losing power - loss in acceleration 21 Jun 2011 (Forum)
I am losing power when accelerating. No where near as quick as normal and really slow after gear changes especially at low revs. The car isnt 'jerky' just really slow. I have taken it to a garage who suggested an oil and filter change adding some engine clean to the oil. This has made no difference. -
Peugeot 206 - Engine light flashing - Just serviced *Please Help 12 Feb 2011 (Forum)
When driving it feels very lumpy and suffers a loss of power under load. I serviced the car yesterday, changing the oil, oil filter, air filter and pollen filter. I did NOT change the the spark plugs. It was running sweet yesterday. I have just taken it for a quick drive now and as soon as i pulled away the light came on again and it was losing power intermitently. -
Mondeo Zetec TDCi 130 6 Speed - Ford Mondeo 2.0TDCi Reliability 23 Nov 2010 (Forum)
The car is a dream to drive, and I am getting great fuel economy from it. Since I purchased the car I have changed the oil and oil filter, changed the air filter, and done all underbonnet checks to make sure its ready for winter such as greasing the battery terminals, checking all wiring is secure etc.. However I felt put off a bit when I read some of the comments on this site stating that the TDCi engine is totally unreliable, I now feel that I have made a mistake buying the car. -
Omega tappet noise 26 Sep 2003 (Forum)
Hi all, car is a 2.0L 16v ecotec with auto box 89K on clock. Recently done an oil-change & put in vauxhall's 10w40. I have been using their 5w40 but thought it was time to lower the cost. Since then have had tappet noise from the exhaust side rocker area. I've done a flush & gone back to the 5w40 but still can hear the noise. -

Ford Maverick I (1993 - 1997) - Problem with a car i've just sold 13 Feb 2008 (Forum)
I sold a car a couple of weeks ago which to my knowledge was perfectly mechanically fine, (pointed out usual things that were wrong with it e.g. rust appearing, could do with an oil change soon as is due, etc.) MOT also due in March. The new owner performed an oil change last week and has just noticed that there is lots of oil in the coolant and is understandably a bit gutted about this, and apparently some brown sludge in the expansion tank. -
A Close Shave 23 Oct 2005 (Forum)
I've just had one of those heart thumping moments whilst doing a DIY oil and filter change on the Pug. I'd drained the sump, changed the filter, put a new washer on and put 2 out of the 4.5 litres of oil in the filler when I nudged the engine cover as I leaned over. One of those silly plastic twist studs with the metal springs decided to jump up and disappear. -
Strange - fuel economy suddenly improved 3 Oct 2005 (Forum)
Now I'm not complaining, but as the car has just rolled over 16,000 miles its been getting at least 22mpg. No change to the driving pattern, little change to the weather, No change to the fuel (optimax) and I had the oil changed about two or three months ago. Curious? I am. -- Espada III - well if you have a family and need a Lamborghini, what else do you drive? -
Gear Oil Questions and Answers 15 Mar 2020 (Forum)
Having a modified engine putting more power through the box & competition conditions don't lend themselves to gentle gear changes so you may see higher wear rates and more wear debris in circulation. It's logical to change the oil periodically if only to flush out the wear debris. Of course the discerning owner may wish to change the oil occcasionally even if the service conditions are considered to be less severe. -

2019 Peugeot 2008 1.2puretechEAT6 130 - Progress report, oil usage 30 Apr 2023 (Forum)
3y6m old at exactly 20,000 miles, time for oil and filter change, last done by me at 10,000miles. I've read that these engines can be oil burners, so I'm keeping a watchful eye on it having run it in carefully since new. Bosch 451 103 355 filter replaced by Mann W7058 and old Castrol Magnatec 0-30 stop/start drained and replaced with 3.5 l new (no expense spared - only the best for our little baby engine!). -
