Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCI - Warning light 12 Dec 2012 (Forum)
Started the car today and the "yellow oil can over water" symbol flashed. In the handbook it says "Diesel in engine oil" but the multi information display says "Change Engine Oil. Service Due" The car was registered on 28th Nov 2011 and its booked in for its first service on 27th Dec 2012 (well within the one month window for the warranty) The dealer said that there is nothign to worry about as the display says that the service is due and after a year, the light is timed to flash until it has had its service. -

Focus First Service 18 Jan 2004 (Forum)
The Focus is going for it's first service tomorrow. Following the advice on HJ's FAQ I asked them to change the gearbox oil. They said there isn't a drain plug, and that modern cars these days don't need that e.t.c Am I being lead astray here, or are they right? Anything else I should ask them to do/change that isn't standard? -
Volkswagen Golf V (2004 - 2008) - 05 2.0 Poor gear-change 17 May 2009 (Forum)
Problem is I, or anyone else for that matter, don't seem to know what is causing this, or how to fix it, and just put it down to a characteristic of the car! Problem is greatly reduced when ambient temp and, thus, oil temp is higher; however, the up-shifts to 2nd and 3rd are still very clunky when I change gear whilst turning a corner! What is that about? Centrifugal force on the oil making it move away from the meshing surfaces of the gears? -

Audi A6 Saloon - Oil Light 19 May 2011 (Forum)
A new issue is that the water temp gauge drops to minimum in one step and then returns to its usual 90 ° C also in one step intermittently but not necessarily at the same time as the oil warning light so this may or may not be connected to the oil light fault. V6 Engine runs smoothly, sounds as good as a diesel ever does, no oil leaks at all, oil level is always at max on the dip stick, oil changed using correct grade regularly and oil is acceptably clean on a spot test, steady oil temp on gauge when running, fuel economy is as good as ever, all fluid levels are OK and no sign or smell of anything abnormally hot, turbocharger can be heard spinning down sweetly when engine is turned off. -
2009 honda crv 2.2 ctdi - engine oil in air filter box 7 Jul 2014 (Forum)
(the noise i mean), i only discovered the oil when going to change the air filter today. Could there be a problem with turbo oil seals, or engine breathers being at fault.Any advice would be welcome as i predict i will have a fight in my hands to get honda to admit to a fault.I would like to get it sorted as there are only 4 months left on the warranty. And would struggle to find the money to replace something like a turbo which would no dought cost a fortune. -
BMW 5-Series E39 (1996 - 2003) - 96 2.5 Recommended oil 16 Jun 2008 (Forum)
I've just bought a 1996 E39 323i with a genuine 62,000 on the clock. It has a main dealer history except for the last service, where it says 6.5 litres synthetic oil 10-40. Yesterday the oil light came on and I see it's just below the minimum mark on the dipstick, it's done 7,000 since the service. I can't get an answer on the phone number I have for the company that did the service, so what oil should I top it up with? -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - Oil cap left off 7 Nov 2007 (Forum)
Collected my 02 Focus 1.6 from a local garage tonight, after it had been in for a service Drove home about 3 miles and decided to have a look under the bonnet, just to see that they had done the filter changes etc etc I found the engine oil cap completely removed, lying on the battery and slightly messy engine bay. Not oil everywhere, just on the surrounding area Now it was obviously dark so I couldn? -
Is my car burning oil? 26 Jul 2001 (Forum)
At a recent MOT the car recorded a HC count of 65 ppm- is this figure useful in determining how much oil is being burnt? Additionaly, despite changing the tappets and cam chain, a couple of the tappets at the cam-belt end have become a bit noisy, yet the car recently produced 124bhp at the wheels, with the only modifications being a high-lift inlet cam, and a vernier pulley. -
Indestructable Peugeot 309 22 Sep 2006 (Forum)
The MOT testing garage are always amazed at the low smoke readings. What amazes me about these PSA engines is that the car has never had an oil change at the recommened 6,000 mile interval. In fact most years, it has gone 10,000 and even 15,000 miles before oil changes. However I regularly change the coolant and use top branded antifreeze.
