Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 1997 1.3 Endura - smoking and missing 19 Jun 2009 (Forum)
Theres no water or anything in the oil. I was thinking that maybe I should give it an engine flush followed by oil and filter change.........Any thoughts? Thanks, Andrew (new member) -
Ford C-MAX (2003 - 2010) - 06 1.8 Dealer recommends engine flush for 3rd serv 9 May 2009 (Forum)
The car's done around 34,000 miles, and had an oil change 6 months ago. Is an oil flush really (pardon the pun) snake oil, i.e. no real benefit? I'm a bit worried it could loosen some crud and cause problems with the engine, which would be difficult to prove and expensive to fix as the car will be out of warranty shortly. -
Elf lubricants - Renault dealers only?? 23 Feb 2009 (Forum)
Does anyone know where you can buy Elf oil apart from at Renault dealers? Specifically the Evolution SXR 5W-40 fully synthetic stuff. The Scenic is almost half way through its ludicrous 18k service interval, and I'm going to change the oil and filter myself. -
Ignorant garages to PD engines! 9 Sep 2008 (Forum)
I have spent the morning ringing round for an oil service for my 2002 A4 TDi. Out of the 8 garages I got quotes from, 5 said they use generic oil and will be fine if I change it every 10,000 miles. Luckily I know different and I want longlife oil thats 507 00 spec. -

I have today serviced my sisters ford KA, but in doing the oil change, (which I hate doing, so I did it first) I came across a small problem. The oil filter is well and truely STUCK!! I've tried all manner of removal tools, even tried (as a very last resort) pushing a screwdriver through it to leaver it round with, all with little success! -

Buying a potential death trap!? Would you? 5 Oct 2010 (Forum)
Hey guys, just a small question. Would you purchase a car knowing that if you forgot to check your weekly oil levels or missed your service by a few miles that your car can have an engine run-away....(speed up on its own accord without user input)? The fix for an engine run-away is an oil change! So, would you buy one knowing this? -
When dropping your components really matters 20 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Can't really remember, but I think I just fitted another screw and hoped for the best - naughty, naughty. Dropped many a sump plug into the waste oil bucket during oil changes. -
Peugeot 405 Diesel (1988 - 1996) - 1996 1.9 sump drain plug 23 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Recently bought our 3rd 405TD. The position of the oil sump drain plug differs from the other 2 we had. Could someone tell me what the 13mm size bolt below what I assume is the actual drain plug, is for? Am about to do an oil change and dont want to ruin the sump! -
FIAT Punto Turbo Diesel (2001) 17 Aug 2005 (Forum)
I have one of the above, and would like to change the oil filter and oil myself. The handbook that comes from FIAT keeps such sensitive information secret as to the location of the sump plug and filter (not easily seen from under or above the engine). -
Ford Ka - 10W30. 26 Feb 2005 (Forum)
I was changing the oil in a friend's Ford Ka the other day. I noticed rather than more usual 10W40 the old Valencia Engine in it took 10W30. Now this seemed odd to me so I did some checking. It *seems* that the Zetec engine requires 10W30 and Ford *may* be recommending the same oil just to be consistent over their entire range. -

Mazda 3 Skyaktiv-G 2.0 2015 - Mazda 3 oil specification 21 Jul 2021 (Forum)
HI All, I have a friend changing my oil and filter for me. He is experienced but I didn't want to bother him too much beforehand.. or look like a numpty by asking dumb questions regarding suitable oil. ;) My Mazda 3 manual states 5W-30 and API SL/SM/SN or ACEA A5/B5.
