citroen saxo 1.1 3 Apr 2007 (Forum)
It was a bit tatty body wise ( bumps and scars etc) but honest, tho drivers door a lighter shade of red than the rest. .Lot of oil round the block front and r/h side. Dont think its the HG - if it is its not putting water into oil or pressurising the cooling system. Hard to tell if its putting oil into water as there is no real way to dip your finger into the water. -
1995 Jaguar XJ 3.2 Oil: Fully synth OK? 18 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Today I bought fully synthetic accidentally to top it up (no problems, just cold starts recently using a little bit more), not realising until almost half the bottle had gone in. The car will probably be serviced at the beginning of next year anyway, as the oil was last changed just over 6 months ago, but I just want to check that this will not cause any major problems until then. -
toyota rav 4 2007 - RAV 4 cockup!!!! 26 Feb 2024 (Forum)

Chevrolet Epica - I Trusted Them. I'm a fool! 15 Sep 2011 (Forum)
when I bought the car from a large national dealer, the pdi check wasn't done there were faults and it was delivered with 4 tyres with dangerously low tyre pressures. The next dealer fixed the mirror but that needed two 60 mile trips, then the aircon and oil leak were fixed and at my request an oil change was done and the wrong grade used, ok, refunded and done elsewhere, then following service specified grade, but thw wrong spec used, so oil change done again. -
Nissan Primera III - P11 code P0011 & P0340 (2002 1.8 ) 28 Oct 2010 (Forum)
Had these codes march 2010, had oil an filter change, today 6 months after oil an filter change the codes are back. Car does not rattle, do not suspect chain problem. Scenario: start car, after about 10 secs start to drive off, 10 yards down road, light on,car lurches forward and down as if to stop/stall, throwing you forwards with a positive jolt, after this split second symton ,light stays on and she drives all day no problems what so ever, oil level is fine, any views greatly appreaited. -
Oil Contamination Problem-Renault Scenic 16 Mar 2007 (Forum)
I bought the car with supposedly the head gasket gone, should have been no problem for me to sort as I am an ex Renault technician. I have changed the head gasket and the head twice ( I have changed the head, to make sure there was no internal crack in the head). Although it is not as bad as it first was, I am still getting oil contamination into the header tank, but only at full running temperature and only after half an hour of running. -
Punto crunching into gear 30 Mar 2006 (Forum)
I bled the clutch today, with little improvement. No apparent leaks from the master cylinder. I haven?t yet checked the gearbox oil level, but thought I might change it anyway ? it?s meant to be done at 80,000. No oil leaks from the gearbox either. So the questions are, any ideas as to the cause and, if I change the oil, should I replace it with SAE80W as specified, or go for something thinner? -

Comma MVMTF 75W-90 Fully Syn API GL-4 the gear box Do these two oils meet the correct spec and would other brands be better at more money or should I go to a garage for a service and pay more. -

Vauxhall Vectra B (1995 - 1999) - 99 1.8 oil use/loss 29 Jun 2009 (Forum)
I have difficulty in believing that the initial stages of head gasket failure could lead to such catastrophic oil loss without leaving an obvious trace. When I changed the oil shortly after purchasing the car a few months ago,I noticed that the old filter was squashed down on one side,as if it had not seated properly. The new one appeared to fit well, but I have not checked it since, but have wondered if there is a pressure release which operates in the filter housing which could vent out oil when running along? -
1999 Fiesta 1.25 Zetec drinking oil 14 Aug 2007 (Forum)
Car had a major service last December but about a month ago it started to run really hot so I checked the water which was ok so I then ckecked oil and there was next to none in the engine!! This doesn't seem right to me as it had an oil change with the major service so I topped up the oil (approx 4.5 litres) but have noticed today that the dipstick is on minimum so that's approx 1.5 litres of oil gone in a month!!! -
Peugeot 807 2.2 HDi Executive - Peugeot 807 turbo oil pipe filter, should it have 13 Oct 2012 (Forum)
The other thought I had was that possibly any flow control may be provided by the union bolt at the turbo end of the feed pipe. Perhaps I should change them both as they could have had a design change there too. Anyone know the answer to this problem? Your help would be appreciated and I thank you in anticipation of your replies. -
