• Nissan 100NX 2.0 litre GTI (1992) - Nissan 100NX brake compensator valve EPDM seals 23 May 2022 (Forum)
  Hi, I have a 1992 LHD Nissan 100NX 2.0 litre GTI which has failed it's MOT because of leaky brake compensator valves. Nissan do not supply these parts any more (and even when they did, they cost more than £1000 each !).

  So for us, reliability is really important and I'm trying to investigate all options but this answer has me confused as I understood from forums etc Nissans CVT is universally considered unreliable. There is a Youtube post with strip down which appears to declare the root cause as a simple frail bearing, which sounds feasible and also likely to have been fixed by Nissan justifying the post 2013 claim by the agony column answer.
• Honda Jazz/Fit (2001 - 2008) - Honda Jazz or Nissan Note - which to go for? 2 Aug 2008 (Forum)
  I'm looking for economy, both in fuel consumption and maintenance, space for the occasional 5 passengers and a dog. I prefer the look of the Nissan and think it looks a bit more grown up than the Honda which I think looks a bit tinny and boxy. I also assume that interior build quality will be a bit better on the Nissan as it's a newer release - am I right in thinking this?

  Hi got a 2007 Nissan Navara diesel and had new clutch and gearbox put in at garage we went to pick it up and there is no throttle response cannot get 20 mph out of it they checked codes and came up with diesel pump but it was ok before it went in when you rev it the boost pipes feel like they are not expanding properly there is a bit of oil around them

  Audio up/down switch (a) works in reverse (b) only works in seek mode although manual says should also search up'down through pre-set stations depending...
• Nissan Navara D22 - Broken timing chain 7 May 2015 (Forum)
  I Have a 2005 Nissan Navara D22. The timing chain has just broken and the vehicle is currently in the garage. The garage want £1000 to fit a new timing chain to turn the engine over and find out whether there has been any engine damage.

    Hi I'm looking for a towing car, not too beastly preferably diesel 140 hp (ish) - just seen a Nissan qashquai 2ltr diesel - has anybody any experience on this model - or would they like to recommend an good alternative used  car - I'm towing a small van 1300 Kg all up thanks Mike A

  Bought my xtrail at christmas. 2007 dci, 28,000 mls. Very load nocking noise from engine when cold. Ok after 10-15 mins. Have been told by Nissan garage, no problem with car, this is normal! Has anyone else had or have this with their xtail. Would also like to remove rear/roof spoiler, any tips. Cheers

  Hey all. Anyone have log-term experience of the Di engine fitted to Nissans? I'm looking at maybe buying an older Primera, Almera, or Almera Tino, and would ideally like one of the diesel engines. A cursory Google reveals issues with the (I believe) Renault-sourced DCi engines, but is the older Di engine a good 'un?

  The gearbox on SWMBO's 2000-reg Nissan Almera (1.4 petrol)has just packed in: 1. What would have caused it to go so soon? The car has covered 62,000 miles. 2. When replacing the gearbox, would it also be prudent to change the clutch? I'm wondering if changing the clutch while changing the gearbox would only add the price of a clutch to the total cost of the job?

  Just saw this ad in Autotrader - I know QXs get poor reviews but this must be a great deal? I guess the 2.0 is likely to be a bit feeble but what do the members think?   Dera Backroomers Nissan is rarely mentioned here. I am dithering about buying a 2.0 Primera up to 6000 pounds HJ's breakdown gives me the idea of an anonymous reliable car. Does anyone have some views on these as a good buy I have an idea that Primeras do not sell quickly.
• Nissan micra 2006 1.2 - Nissan micra overheating 21 Jul 2018 (Forum)
  They have sniff tested and pressure tested but no signs of anything. Any ideas or previous experiences, even the Nissan dealership are lost with it, and when it overheats it’s not like an inferno of coolant or anything, just hotter than it should be. One as patrol said that the fan was only kicking in when the car was too hot, but it will kick in before the warning light comes on, Any advice much appreciated

  But somehow, it seems to make sense on the Note when the diesel is nil road tax, more torquey and more powerful than at least one of the petrol alternatives. Do peeps have any experience, knowledge or thoughts on  Nissan diesels that they wouldn't mind sharing? I think the Nissan diesel as fitted to the Note is made by Renault, but that's literally all that I know about it.  I haven't looked at a post 2013 plate Note nor driven one, but its an alternative that someone suggested on another thread and one that I'm becoming quite interested in.

  Hi all! So I'm having a little trouble with my 1.8 Petrol Nissan Almera Tino, hoping someone can help out. Bought the car in 06/2014, and it's been running smoothly until last Friday... Drove for about 10 mins, went up a hill and car started shaking and lost all power, came back to life very quickly and therefore thought nothing of it.

  Hi All.   I am a bit stumped. I have a 2003 Nissan Micra 1.2 se. It has been overheating. Today, I topped up the coolant and ran it on idle, after a bit the expansion tank was to the top and it was spitting coolant out. I checked the thermostat and it is definitely knackered.

  Hi I would be grateful for any views from the mechanics out there. We have just collected a brand new Nissan X-trail. After 2 weeks of driving, the engine is prone to intermitant stuttering, whether we are pulling away or cruising in the motorway. It feels as if the engine is hesitating at times. Nissan took the car last week and it drove fine with them and they carried out a diagnostic check which did not find any immediate faults.
