Peugeot 308 Verve 2010 - P1338 - Misfire Cylinder No.2 (Losing the will) 13 Apr 2021 (Forum)
New Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor. Drive Shaft Realignment. Car has also had a full service all filters and oil change along with a full engine flush / clean. I just don't know where to go next or what to look at as to what can be causing the problem. I have my own OBD monitor and from what I can see the car is running 10° hotter than what my dial actually displays (warn running engine temp usually of 90° shown on dial yet OBD reports 100°). -
Nissan Note - Timing chain & engine damage - what to do next? 6 Sep 2020 (Forum)
As the car is out of warranty I've been told that Nissan are unlikely to do anything to help me, even though the car has such a low mileage and this part should not have failed. The car has been properly serviced and the oil changed as recommended, and I have the service book as evidence. It's been recovered to a local garage, who have given me 3 options: (1) Have the car recovered to Nissan. They will do 2 hours of diagnostics (costing £200). -
Ford Focus Mk2, 2007 1.6. - Recommendations, please. 7 Nov 2016 (Forum)
Sorry, but yet another request for car change recommendations. We currently have a Focus 1.6 2007 Zetec Climate, and have had it for six years. Its been a great car, relentlessly reliable, but just lately has started to cost money on a regular basis. -

Jaguar X-Type 2.0d 2004 157k - Sod's Law Strikes Again 23 Mar 2016 (Forum)
Tuesday morning, took car round to my local indy -very busy - and collected it Wednesday morning. Themostat changed, bill £90 inc VAT and anti-freeze etc. Wednesday afternoon took car to town, got it washed (as you do) and all was rosy - until I negotiated our steep High St. in a queue - and the temperature shot up again. -

New car - old car? £7,000 down the drain? 29 Jan 2010 (Forum)
It seems the Punto is worth an open cheque book for the next 8yrs - as the losses on buying a petrol Panda would be truly massive - even if, say - £1,500 were figured into repairs for the Punto over the next 8yrs. (This is the exceptionally (mechanically) cared for Punto by the way - serviced by me - oil changes at half intervals and with waterproof grease on the frames and under body seams - although it looks rough in the paint dept) Thoughts? -
Jeep Cherokee (2002 - 2007) - 05 2.8 Torque converter recall woes. 4 Dec 2009 (Forum)
They contacted Jeep UK who were most unsympathetic and who consider it quite normal for a 40,000 mile gearbox (never done any towing) to fail. With this information the service dept changed their tune, saying the oil in the gearbox was burnt, there was metal debris in the gearbox and the 'touch pads' were totally worn. They also claimed that the vehicle had done over 700 miles after the work which was nonsense, and seems to me like they're rowing for the shore. -
Peugeot 406 Diesel Playing Up 3 Nov 2002 (Forum)
Also when you change gear the needle tends to drop rather than swoop. 4) The tape won't play tapes and swaps sides until it turns itself back onto the tuner. 5) The electronic climate control seems to have a off time as well. -
Lost Wheel Saga 29 Apr 2001 (Forum)
Rather more years ago than I care to remember I was part of an investigation into an accident where a lorry lost a trailer wheel. The end conclusion was that the wheel had been recently changed, all the studs were of the correct design material etc, and had been done up to the correct torque, allegedly. Yet, because the threads had not been cleaned and oiled, so much of the torque was lost in overcoming the friction due to the crap in the threads, that there was insufficient clamping pressure to hold the wheel still under braking and cornering. -
see if I care..... 15 Mar 2004 (Forum)
I can\'t get here the original Ford ATF made by Pennzoil and sold in every Walgreens (that\'s your Boots) in the US, but what\'s in there seems clean enough and she shifts fine. Diff oil was made never to be changed in the car\'s lifetime so that\'s off the list. Oil and filter change done. 20w/50 dino oil natch. The best Valvoline that money can buy. She loved it, I can tell. Wipers need work. -
Peugeot 206 hatchback (1998 - 2006) - 01 1.6 headgasket changed, but still have problems 29 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Hi; I really hope someone out there with a bit more car knowledge than myself can help me here. Don't get me wrong, I can just about change a tyre, know where the water, oil petrol etc goes, but that's about my knowledge and I think my garage is messing me about. I'll try and keep this short, but please bear with me, it's a longish story! -
A bland farewell 24 Oct 2018 (Forum)
They quickly agreed that it was faulty and had a new clutch fitted. I reminded the dealer that I believe there was oil contamination but was told that the clutch itself was faulty. Sure enough it drove perfectly when I picked it up but within a short period it started juddering again... oil contamination as I said. -
I found out my vehicle is older than I was told - is this a case of mis-selling? 29 Jun 2018 (Ask HJ)
I purchased a Range Rover Evoque in March 2017 from a main dealer. The salesman said it was first registered in November 2016. The warranty was three years... -
My first 6 weeks with a 520d 15 Jul 2012 (Forum)
If I were to drive on the motorway at 70MPH, the car would be delivering well in excess of 50MPG. I don’t so it doesn’t. Other notes: Engine oil warms up very quickly, within 3 miles. I guess this will be different in the winter (note I wrote oil not water – it doesn’t have a water gauge, just an oil temp gauge and oil takes longer to warm than oil) In the sun you do get an annoying reflection in the windscreen. -
all makes - Antifreeze- Blue vs Orange/Red 8 Oct 2021 (Forum)
With a change of coolant charged at £40~£80 checking when it was last changed could be time well spent. -
Will my Volkswagen Golf Plus pass its MoT without having had the emissions fix done? 31 Jul 2017 (Ask HJ)
Given the recent complaints of cars breaking down or going into limp mode following the emissions fix, I'm considering not proceeding with my own recall... -
