Mazda CX-7 - Let down by Mazda customer service. 19 Jan 2016 (Forum)
I drove for Christmas to Poland and all was good but there was one think I wasn’t sure about… Mazda put castrol magnatec oil instead dexelia dpf. I already knew about customer problems with dpf engines. I rung Mazda garage in Poland and they advised me to come and change it. So I went and after 20 min I been told that timing chain needs to be change!! -
Ford Focus - Faulty Car (Small Claims Court or Not) 21 Aug 2018 (Forum)
When we returned to the house I did notice some liquid on the floor however i couldn’t smell or telling what it was at first I thought maybe oil but it didn’t stick like oil and after checking the oil itself I didn’t notice these issues. The issues only occurred after driving home 34 miles safely so would suggest they were their before. If I pay for the repairs via garage of approx £200 would the courts award this to me. -
Ford Mondeo Mk3 - Tdci - Strange overheating problem, only at speed 4 Jun 2018 (Forum)
- Have had an oil change as (I thought) the oil was a little low on the dip stick; garage said it was only a litre off full. - Have had the thermostat replaced yesterday, coolant bled through - all pipes seem warm where they should be, suggesting coolant flow and working thermostat with no airlocks. -
Servicing Scam 27 Jan 2005 (Forum)
VW's 'long life servicing', a regime whereby the vehicle no longer necessarily comes in at the 1 year / 10,000 mile point, only when the newly developed long life oil is deemed to need changing via some engine management system. This apparently could take you all the way up to 20,000 miles/ 2 years if you are that type of driver (i.e. not the stop start stuff) - see: http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/services/servicing/longlife_service_regime Anyway, so at the one year point I get a letter from the dealer informing me that the car needed to be brought in for servicing (with some blurb stressing the importance of regular servicing in order to maintain safety, reliability and re-sale value), no problem I thought given I had already paid for it. -
Vauxhall Omega-B (03) 2.2 DTi (Y22DTH) - Omega-B 2.2 DTi Limp Mode & P1220 Error Code 1 Apr 2014 (Forum)
Swapped the MAF sensor with a known good one (both are Bosch OEM). Checked the intercooler hoses. They're sound but there is a coating of engine oil in them, so it may be in the intercooler too. (No excessive engine oil loss though.) Disconnected the MAP sensor which made the engine run lumpier. The MAP sensor was replaced around 1500 miles ago with a Bosch OEM part, so I believe it to be good. -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 2001 2.0HDi Coolant loss from header tank 13 Mar 2009 (Forum)
pipe when it does leak. I want to keep hold of the car (last owner changed oil/filters etc every 10k, and it is in good nick) but if it is the head gasket will prob try and get money back from trader (only had the car a week) and they had been running it before selling so surley must've been aware of coolant loss?? -
Volkswagen Passat (2001 - 2005) - 2003 PD130 owner's report 24 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Even keeping below 3K rpm, you?re still moving quite nicely. It?s been serviced at 10K intervals, using 505.01 oil (not long life). Uses about half a pint of oil between changes. Pros: grunty engine, the trademark PD instant torque, and perfect ratios in the top 4 gears mean overtaking and cruising is always quick, punchy and stress free. -
Vauxhall Combo van 2010 1.7 Z17 DTH - Bought van. First drive. Problem list, help? 22 Dec 2022 (Forum)
2) Chonk chonk chonk sound from NSF wheel area when driving, changes with vehicle speed. 3) Under acceleration there is a rather rough vibration from somewhere (drivetrain?), although the engine sounds OK when revved when stationary. It goes well enough, but the above concern me greatly, since money is very tight. -
2008 Audi A4 3.0 v6 Quattro S-line - Buying advice for a 144k Audi A4 20 Jul 2021 (Forum)
(I wont buy unless those terms are met) It has brand new wheels and tyres all round, MOT expires in 6 months. It's recently had a new clutch and flywheel, gearbox oil changed and a minor service. All receipts have been seen. I'm going to run a HPI check on the car, and then send a qualified mechanic to do a full inspection and test drive of the vehicle to ensure peace of mind. -
Volkswagen Golf Mk6 (2010) 1.4 TSI Automatic - VW Golf Mk6 DQ200 DSG 7 Speed - Worth Keeping? 12 Jan 2021 (Forum)
I've done some research and have read many forums on this particular DSG gearbox and learnt it appears to be very problematic, with serious and very expensive mechanical issues being inevitable. The gearbox is also "sealed for life", therefore gearbox oil changes at 40,000 mile intervals cannot be carried out. The mileage is only around 56000 miles and the drive in general is really good. I'm a conventional driver averaging about 4000 miles annually, rarely ever speed or drive above the speed limit, but on the odd occasion I do seem to experience a slight jerk whether it's driving off from standstill or whilst driving in general. -
mechatronics faulty extended warranty 12 Nov 2020 (Forum)
During that period i had covered over 700 miles. 3 days after warranty started i had a dsg gearbox error on the dash saying reverse gear not available and this happened three times and went into a limp mode. It is a 7 speed DSG dry clutch with no oil change intervals. I decided to have the car recovered into my local Seat dealership as i had their all component extended warranty. They stripped the mechatronic unit and found some things in there and suggested a entire gearbox replacement via the warranty. -
Vauxhall Zafira B 2014 1.8 petrol - Running rough, engine light on, juddering 3 Sep 2018 (Forum)
I'm wondering if it is linked to a problem that it's had for 18 months or so, which I always though was the clutch and idling issue - slight clutch judder when pulling away from standing start (only when cold) and it being very difficult to change gear (particularly 1st to second) without riding the clutch - as if when you depress the clutch the revs drop but then momentarily race again making it seem like the clutch is slipping. I thought this might be a slight oil leak onto the clutch / fly wheel which burned off once it got hot, so I had it checked and all was OK. -
Vauxhall Insignia 1.4turbo - Residue from new brake discs/pads 18 Jul 2018 (Forum)
We moved to France a few years ago, and re-registered our Vauxhall Insignia here. We've just had the rear discs and pads changed (for Bosch parts BP1233 and BD1367); there was a bit of confusion at the garage as to what pads were suitable for the car, but in the end they seemed to sort it out. After we drove about 50km on the new brakes (gently, of course), we noticed some silver liquid (?) -
Astra 1.3 diesel - Timing chain rattle 27 Jan 2018 (Forum)
I know many people do not like this engine, but I'm seeking an objective answer, please: My car has had good quality oil and filter changes every 11k miles or so, but in just the past few weeks I can hear the timing chain rattle when it is idling. It's a periodic thing - sounds like 1, 2, 3, pause, 1, 2, 3, pause, 1, 2, 3... -
Honda Civic 2.2 i-CTDi - Buying Honda Civic 2.2 i-CTDi 2007 service history 26 Aug 2017 (Forum)
I've always done quite a high mileage so it never really occured to me to check the dates as well as the mileage.. Lesson learnt for next time. Is a five year period without an oil change a worry if its only done 10k or should I not be too worried about this? The car is currently on 68k miles. I should point out that my friend works with someone who used to be a Honda technician. -
Honda Accord DTECH 2.2 - VSA Triangular sign ON 17 Dec 2015 (Forum)
Yesterday I took the car to a registered garage (Not Honda garage) for full service, All the service parts used including engine oil is from Honda dealer. The only item could not be replaced is fuel filter as the mechanic could not open the fuel filter housing cap so he removed the housing from the car and try opening it, he did not want to apply extra force in case it break the housing which would cost £300 for the unit so the housing was put back without changing the fuel filter. -
mercedes sprinter cdi - broken engine ?? 17 Jun 2015 (Forum)
Opening the bonnet didn't seem to reveal anywhere in particular the smell was coming from, though in the cab has bin getting a bit worse, so I tried not to use it. Today I removed the casing below the engine to look &change the oil & discovered the cause- sort of! Can anyone possibly identify what these vague bits can be please, something's melted & the following had fallen off into the casing!! Much obliged thank you! -
Mazda Mazda 6 (2002 - 2007) - May 06 Diesel 143 - misfire at 1250 revs 26 Apr 2015 (Forum)
Hi all Have a Mazda6 Diesel that misfires off idle 1250 rev's it's been doing that for a few months sometimes. It's done 23K and had service at Dealers at 12K last May and I changed oil and filter at 18K with Mazda DPF Dexelia. Now last few weeks misfires all the time if you go slow enough in second gear and take it easy. I can even tell in these last few weeks it's not running right up to 2000 rev's. -
Peugeot 207 - Engine warning light 28 Oct 2014 (Forum)
At Peugeot Tech's behest we have got to fill up from empty with Shell V Max or similar premium fuel and return the car to the main agent who will add a fuel system service additive to the tank, change the engine oil and download the ECU and hope that cures the problem. Has anyone any idea what the hell is going on??? I'm wondering if Peugeot just want to keep it running until the warranty expires in March 2015. -
Corsa C 1.2 16V - Drive by wire hrottle problem 7 Jun 2014 (Forum)
The car worked fine a couple of days ago, but is very noisy when hot, which is why I was able to get the 1612 fault code. Then I changed the oil and it's as described above. Just can't figure it out, any ideas welcome please. Thanks
