Honda CR-V - Flat spots on rear tyre and judder while driving 4 Mar 2014 (Forum)
It's as if something slows the car down for a split second, as if I'm driving through a puddle - it's that type of feeling. I'm concerned that because the rear diff oil has never been changed while we've had it and I doubt it was changed when the car was bought in to the family, whether the diff has been extremely damaged by it. Has anyone experienced this issue before? -
Passat 2009 CR Bluemotion2 - Aux belt-->Cambelt--> Rocker-->Camshaft failure 26 Apr 2015 (Forum)
I am shocked to say the least as I thought I was thoroughly maintaining my car. Q is it usual for main dealerships not to change the alternator belt at the same time as the Cambelt? I'm particularly disappointed as I saved up to buy the CR model that I knew would not then suffer from the expensive 'rounding off of the oil pump drive spindle' problem on previous models. -
Vauxhall Vectra B (1995 - 1999) - 97 1.8 petrol (?) Stalling engine & ign. light. 17 Jun 2008 (Forum)
I've not had it long but a friend helped me to find it and has serviced it just after i got it with all the usual stuff being checked or changed. I know that the radiator has been changed, oil, brakes and discs and lots of other bits too. The car after i have driven about 20miles then park and then get back in just after i have started driving again ( i basically drive from work to parents house, pick up son then drive home again) i normally pull into the same road (my parents road) and reverse out. -
DPF Q&A -- sheds some light 1 Aug 2009 (Forum)
If complete regeneration is not possible within this period, the regeneration will be interrupted. Question: How does regeneration affect the oil life? Answer: On each regeneration or attempted regeneration, a certain diesel fuel amount is injected into the engine oil which reduces the oil life. If the "INSP" light in the instrument cluster comes on, the engine oil is exhausted and must be changed. -
Citroen Relay II, 2002-2006 (registered 2007) - Burning smell (clutch?), slow air suspension, etc 4 Sep 2023 (Forum)
Roughly how much would it cost to fix that? When starting from a standstill, especially on a hill, or changing down a gear as the incline increases, there is a smell like burning plastic. The oil is fine, so I assume this is a clutch issue - though the clutch doesn't slip or show other signs of wear. What exactly is the problem, and how can I fix it? -
Great Daihatsu main dealer service 17 Jun 2009 (Forum)
Its been a refreshing experience after having read so much about peoples negative experiences of the rip-off merchant main dealers. As such, Im now willing to pay that bit more and have them do the oil/fliter and its first gearbox oil change due in July as I feel I will be looked after - I could walk away and not use them, theres no obligation, but its businesses like this that need support. They also do Ford, so its not like they are only used to japanese oddities. -
A motoring diary`snapshot` - you, yesterday 4/6/09 6 Jun 2009 (Forum)
Clean as a whistle with silver alloy showing in the base. The indirect injection engine really loads the oil and it`s a 6,000 change interval. I used to halve this - given the severe usage - but since using Rimula have gone up to 4,000 and its still not forming sludge. Air filter - done. Whole engine bay washed and re-applied WD40 over all alloy. -
Peugeot 106 1997 1.1 - MOT - CO 2nd fast idle, & idle speed too high 21 May 2014 (Forum)
I have gun gummed the front pipe to stop the leak. and wd-40'd connectors Tomorrow, I am planning to get some new oil, a new oil filter, new spark plugs, a new air filter, add the Cataclean, do a 70 mile round trip, and go back to the MOT place with the engine hot. Would tightening the tappets help any? -
Toyota Auris - Car Struggling To Start 30 Mar 2025 (Forum)
The last week the low oil light came on and I topped it up. It's come on again today and it's a little low but no milkyness on the dipstick. I am starting to suspect that it's my head gasket that's starting to fail and I've kept my driving very minimal until my mate who's a mechanic can look at it. -
Citroen C4 Cactus or Dacia Sandero Stepway - Which? 31 Jan 2023 (Forum)
An additional consideration was the cam belt/chain, as replacement costs can be expensive & vary considerably. As far as l know the Citroen has a belt, which runs in oil & has had some issues. The Stepway is chain driven however, is this engine reliable? Thoughts? -
Nissan Micra K11 auto CVT (1995) - CVT auto gearbox Issue – No drive or gears 19 Jun 2021 (Forum)
Though when you place in D, you don't get that engage feel (like that small jolt, feel of engagement), just nothing happens. The CVT light is not on. The gearbox done 130,000, but had regular oil changes. Any ideas what this could be? I was wondering, if I placed it in P mode, whilst wheels were not stationery, has possibly screwed it up? -
fiesta 1.4 tdci zetec 2008 - ongoing idle problem 5 Aug 2014 (Forum)
Hi there iv got a 2008 fiesta 1.4 tdci f6ja engine... ever since iv had this car its had a slight judder when idleing its only slight buts its noticable also iv recently had an air con service as it was out of gas but when I turned it on my revs was very erratic up and down as if it was exaggerating the idle problem... iv already had my injectors seals done and my injectors checked they are fine iv also changed my oil and replaced my air filter... recently had a diagnostic done and showed up my maf sensor was not working so iv replaced that and check the wiring all is in order but problem still persists... the car itself drives fine and pulls away through the gears no problem but I do get a bit of hesitation when driving slow in low gears so now im swaying towards the fuel delivery... -
Renault Megane 2003 1.9dci - Loss of torque 13 May 2013 (Forum)
Hi, After the replacement of the mass airflow sensor the turbo started to leak oil into the exhaust. So the turbo was replaced too and the garage asked me to let the new turbo bed in and not drive in a way to use the turbo for a 50 miles or so. I also used feul cleaner to allow the car to get back to full health. -

Ford Focus - Is the garage lying to me? 22 Mar 2013 (Forum)
I then got another call on the saturday to tell me that it wasn't air locking at all. They are now telling me that the oil pressure tensioner (if that makes sense to you) has let go and needs replacing. They're saying it just happened to fail whilst in their garage, and it could have failed at any time, and had nothing to do with the work they've done. -
Vauxhall Astra G Petrol 2002 1.4 LS 16V Z14XE - Misfire Cylinder 3 16 Jan 2013 (Forum)
It seems to happen when I'm on my way home from work and the engine is warming up. It also has only started happening since I topped the oil up a few months back, although I'm told this has nothing to do with it? Many thanks in advance, Keni. -
Volvo S40 - Sign of impending clutch failure? 15 Jul 2012 (Forum)
Does this sound right or could there be a different explanation? I am not really willing to pay that and it's already due to go in on Weds for oil/filter change which will cost about £200 and also needs 4 new tyres in next 3 months. I could be at the point where I can swap the car for less. Bad luck is my middle name. -

Peugeot 106 - New Head Gasket - won't start 17 Dec 2011 (Forum)
I've gone back over it all and re-checked all connect iona that I disturbed - and still the same. It was working fine before hand - never had a problem starting it in 11 years. Changed head gasket because it was starting to leak oil badly along front edge. Any one got any ideas? Thanks. -
