How/Where to report a scammer? 24 Dec 2018 (Forum)
He came equipped with a laptop & dealer-level diagnostic software, asking all kinds of HIGHLY technical questions about the car, most of which I had no idea what they even were. As a result of the diagnostics, a major problem with the turbo was found, as well as DPF and glow plugs, as a result I sold him the car for a big discount (£5200) sold as seen obviously, as there was quite a few quids worth of repairs to be done. Sure enough when it came time to sign over the V5 he wanted it signed over to him as a trader with the yellow slip. -
Mazda 3 - Car sold with no service history. Advice/Feedback 21 Jun 2017 (Forum)
About 4 weeks ago some lights came on on the dash - Tyre pressure malfunction, Engine malfunction, DSC malfunction, DPF malfunction, Smart Brake assist malfunction. In addition the istop stopped working, and the dash section that shows you current gear and suggested gear also stopped working. I booked the car into Mazda (as advised by Stoneacre since it was under warranty), but when i took the car to Mazda I was told that I may not be covered for the work, as there was no service history with the car so the warranty could be invalid. -
Toyota Yaris - Problems with Yaris bought recently from dealer 24 Feb 2017 (Forum)
This was followed by the engine management light. I took it to motorline bromsgrove. They said that the DPF needs regeneration and initially, they were going to charge me £101 as they said it should be covered under toyota warranty. Then they called back an hour later and said that they called toyota and toyota would NOT cover it under the warranty. -

Mercedes Benz E-Class W124 (1985 - 2000) - New Motor - something for the weekend 12 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Thankfully that shouldn't be too hard - around here garage rates are a whopping 27 euros an hour and every workshop is teaming with old men that have all grown up with these cars. Plus, with no DPF or DMF to worry about, I don't think I'll be losing much sleep. Heidi is now asleep under her protective cover. She may venture out and take the kids to school one day this week, but only if it's not raining... -

Buying advice - family car for three in rear 30 Oct 2023 (Forum)
My main issue is that the petrol engines are far too thirsty but I'm concerned with the shorter journeys being an issue for the DPF in the diesel. Especially as the budget is looking at 70k 10+ year old models where issues are looking to arise as the mileage increases. I've mainly been looking at the 2.0 TDCi as I think I've read about issues with the 1.6 (please correct me if wrong). -
Ford Focus - Ford TDCI limp mode issues 8 Jul 2021 (Forum)
So I have a 2008(58) Mazda 3 1.6d - using the Citroen HDi/Ford TDCI engine all mechanics seem to know and hate. Its Euro 4 so it has the EGR but no DPF. About a month ago it went into limp mode. It still drove but really struggled to get above 3k RPM and was very sluggish to pick up speed when driving. The weird thing was when the car is first started it drive perfectly for about the first 15 -.20 seconds then straight to limp. -
Kia Ceed Sportswagon - (another) time to change? 21 Jan 2021 (Forum)
Oh, there was an MoT advisory of lower suspension arms wearing out which probably would cost 300 pounds; and the service is due in two months which will probably cost 180 pounds though I had only done 5,000 miles last year. The Ceed has none of the usual things that honestjohn doesn’t like - DPFs, DMFs and belt cams, so the main bits should be all good. But the MoT advisory, and the fact that the a/c condenser was perished highlights the fact that nothing lasts forever and things do wear out. -
