Peugeot 308 - Peugeot Problems!!! 6 Apr 2020 (Forum)
They did their diagnostics and the fault code for ‘destruction of the timing belt’ was thrown up, which has resulted in them giving us a quote for nearly £3000, to which we both nearly died. Now, here is the interesting part, with us having to constantly top the oil up, we obviously consulted the manual and used Halfords car oil checker to which it said use 0w-30w grade oil, which we always have and always used the same manufacturer. On one occasion we were away from home late at night and our only option was to use 5w-30w instead, but it was the same manufacturer of oil. -

Suzuki Swift - Rejecting a car from a dealer 17 Feb 2019 (Forum)
By the time I'd driven it home the steering wheel was failing to self centre. Today I noticed the clutch was starting to slip and smell. I dipped the oil, to find the oil level was a good 10 mm over the fill mark and the air filter hadn't been changed. The oil also smelt (in my opinion) quite strongly of petrol. After taking it to get the wheel alignment checked I found out the alignment was way off. -
Extralube ZX1 - Extralube ZX1 is 'NOT' an engine 'ADDITIVE'.... 5 Feb 2018 (Forum)
It seems that everyone, even now still refers to this product as an additive when it NEVER has been, EVER... It is a Micro Oil Metal Treatment that does not change the properties of the oil, or any other native lubricant. It chemically bonds to any metal surface creating a virtually friction free environment, and it is this quality that allows the oil to do its job even better. -
Vauxhall Corsa SX1, 06 - vibration in low gears (1/2) 9 Sep 2013 (Forum)
Hi For sometime I have had trouble with car loosing oil, a coule of weeks ago a mechanic changed my oil pressure switch, but when I gave it a run the red light came on. I took it back and he relaced it and the oil leak seems fixed. (dipstick fine etc) However the car still sufferes from 'vibration' in low gears, when it gets up speed it seems fine. -
ford ka3 (2001) - What is it??? 26 Aug 2013 (Forum)
I guess the best way to describe it would be like a static noise with a little tapping. Anyway, I thought I'd best check the oil and water before driving it again, as I haven't since buying the car, so I popped the bonnet. The oil has a couple of dark bits when I wipe it, so I'm guessing I might need an oil change? And on the top right there is a tank... it is below the minimum, so this could be the problem. -

Vauxhall astra temperature problem 25 Jan 2005 (Forum)
It flucates between the 90 mark and 80. This is more noticeable when driving around town. On the motorway the change is not as great. I have checked the coolant and I am not getting any oil in it and it does not seem to be losing any. It also never overheats. Any ideas. Thanks Crol -
Rover 827-tappets noise 14 May 2003 (Forum)
My 96 827 has developed a tappet noise at start up.It seems to be just one tappet sounding off and it rapidly disappears if revved.I think I may have read something on this subject but can't locate where. Is it an idiosyncracy of this engine and something to live with? Car has done 60 thou with oil and filter changes every 3000 miles -

Audi A2 - Tappety Engine Noise Please Help! 19 Jul 2013 (Forum)
The problem is that I took it to a number of independant garages but all came back with different diagnosis which is causing me a major problem as I do not know who to turn to and I do not want to end up with the same problem after paying for the work. 1. First one said the tappets need changing aswell as the camshaft 2. Second one stated the tappets only need a clean and an oil change 3. Third one said it needs a flush and oil change 4. Fourth one said the bottom end is gone so uneconomical for repair 5. -

Ford Focus 2006 (Mk2) LX 1.6 Petrol - Rattling, Powertrain light and won't start. 6 Mar 2019 (Forum)
Hi, I have a Ford Focus 2006 (Mk2) LX 1.6 Petrol. I've had it 8 years and it's done 90k miles. I have the oil changed every year (every 10k miles) but never bothered with the other serviceable items (air filter, spark plugs, etc..). The oil was last changed March '18. Two weeks after that oil change I started my car to return home after a long day out. -
VW Golf Mk5 - Gunk in the expansion tank 27 Nov 2012 (Forum)
First thing I thought of was the head gasket, however, engine temp climbs to the standard 90degC and stays there. Plus there's no oil film in the coolant, or white gunk in the oil (on the dipstick or filler cap, plus did an oil change yesterday and the oil appeared uncotaminated). I also couldn't see any signs of dried coolant on the plastic engine tray, either, so ruling out rad leaks etc?
