Mazda CX-5 - Engine failure 24 Feb 2023 (Forum)
So my other option was getting it reconditioned, so i bringed the car to them and they opened it and said the DPF was acommulating gases and the oil pump wasn't doing it work, consequently it damaged the engine. Is this possible to happen? And is there anyway where i can get any compensation or other ways to solve the issue? -
Honda CR-V - Changing Car.....Future 15 Apr 2020 (Forum)
At present l have a Toyota RAV 4 2005 D-4D in cracking condition with just over 80K on the clock, full service history etc & bought from the original owner who l know locally. Being a 55 plate there's no DPF to consider & overall it meets our requirements to accommodate a couple of dogs in the back & was too good an opportunity to miss a couple of years back. However, if l were to buy now, with a budget of around 8K, it would be the Honda, as in general l just prefer the shape to the comparable Toyota RAV 4. -

MPV diesel engines to avoid? 6 Mar 2019 (Forum)
I am however considering changing my car for a bigger Diesel MPV for road trips (Preferably with no DPF) and there is quite a few that I fancy. All in the 2004-2010 range due to budget. 1) S-Max (or galaxy but I don't like it as much) 2) C4 Grand Picasso 3) Grand Scenic (MK3) 4) Sharan 5) Zafira 6) Honda CR-V (Like the MK3 but budget would point to the MK2) All of them offer a variety of engines and BHP and while obviously maintenance and care is a huge factor, statistically speaking some of them are apparently worth avoiding. -
Skoda Fabia - Fuel leaking into the Sump tank 10 Jan 2019 (Forum)
Mid November I got a new water pump put on my car and had the cambelt changed at the same time, just before Christmas on my way home the DPF light comes on, nearly home and my car revs up and raced forward like the accelerator is stuck on, the revs came down however then revved up again at which point I turned the car off and pulled over. -

Volkswagen Tiguan - Clutch - to replace, or not... 6 Jun 2018 (Forum)
They've quoted something exorbitant to fit a new clutch and DMF, but also say that when they've said the same to other Tiguan owners, the owner has refused their kind offer and often managed another 10k-20k before needing a new clutch!! He only does about 5k miles each year in it (generally longer runs so no DPF worries) and about 50% of that is towing a 2 berth caravan. Given that there are no signs of impending clutch failure (no sign of slipping, even when towing), I reckon I'd leave well alone and keep a watching brief/consider chopping it in over the next year. -
Thinking about changing 4 Jun 2018 (Forum)
Weekends usually involve a motorway journey of around at least 10 miles each way. Do back roomers think this is enough mileage to keep a dpf healthy? Although I’d prefer an estate, the dealer also has a pre-reg Euro 6 Ceed 1 hatch offered at a massive discount which I might consider as the boot is larger than the Auris although doesn’t have all the toys offered in the “3” spec. -
Honda CRV 2.2CDTI - Honda CRV choices .. Which should I buy please? 30 Jan 2017 (Forum)
I'm looking to purchase a Honda CRV and I've opted for a 2.2CDTI as it has no DPF filter fitted and my mileage consists of short trips for most of the time. There are 2 on Autotrader which aren't too far away from me and am interested in going to see both. My options are: 1) http://www4.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201611059473289? -
Honest John's Motoring Agony Column 24-09-2016 Part 1 25 Oct 2016 (Forum)
Finally, was informed that a) I should stop using City diesel from Morrisons - very dirty & high bio content (good for planet, not for VW) b) try to incorporate motorway driving to keep DPF and EGR valves clear. Tempted to have it chipped. Disgruntled from Gtr Manchester -

We did flush out the intercooler and it had a good cup of oil in it, so we flushed the thing with petrol. and cleaned all the connecting hoses. The cannister thing at the exhaust where it meets the manifold, what is that, a DPF? My father in law thinks that was full of oil. It now has the engine management light on, which is in red, and wasn't on before we fitted the turbo? Unplugged the MAF, MAP and EGR but to no avail.
