  • Peugeot 207 (2006 - ) - servicing requirements petrol engines 7 Apr 2008 (Forum)
I notice that the service interval for these cars is 2 years/20,000 miles. As I would only cover 12,000 in two years does this really mean the oil would not be changed for 2 years? Seems like a long time to me. culmhead
  • Volkswagen Golf IV (1998 - 2004) - Need service in Stratford upon Avon 23 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Can anyone recommend a good, cheap place in Stratford to get my Golf serviced? It's done 75k miles and I don't think it needs anything more than just an oil change.

  • Fast Fit Servicing 17 May 2004 (Forum)
National Tyres are currently advertising oil and filter changes for £15 using semi-synthetic. Unfortunately we don't have one around here. Does anybody know any other chain that does a similar thing? (Too many phone calls involved to ring them all-at least that's my excuse).
  • ford fiesta head gasket 18 Apr 2004 (Forum)
My wife drives a ford fiesta 1.8 diesel on an S plate 1998. It's started to lose water and there is a slight oil leak on the head. Obviously the gasket is on it's way out! I would like to have a go at changing the gasket. Is it a good idea or would it be best to let the experts do it?
  • MB C class electronic autoboxes 2 Mar 2002 (Forum)
There are reports of abnormally high failure rates of the MB 722.6 autoboxes between 60-100k. These are no longer given interim oil changes(sealed for life) HJ always recommends such changes. The boxes are also fitted to Jaguar & RR. Has HJ or anyone confirmation of this rumour ? regards Simon

  • Clutch advice - Citroen ZX 3 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Very occasional slight brief burnt smell under load. My local Citroen authorised repairer has just taken a look at the gear change problem and said the next thing to try would be changing gear oil, but that there's not much point doing this now as the clutch will need replacing before too long which should improve gear change and would involve changing gear oil anyway.
  • VW Polo GTI - Used car problems - help with rejecting car 28 Dec 2016 (Forum)
Tons of evidence out there of people having engine replacements under warranty, oil consumption tests, piston ring changes etc etc. My polo has no record of any of this work being carried out by VW. It has 4 previous owners and the service book shows evidence of multiple oil changes close together before then being part exchanged.

  • Toyota Landcruiser LC4 - Toyota Landcruiser engine failure 19 Apr 2013 (Forum)
4 weeks ago the engine suffered a serious failure, whilst travelling at about 70mph it suddenly lost all power, the oil light came on and it rattled big time! I had to get it recovered back to my local Toyota agent who took the engine out and stripped it down. The cause was found to be the copper sealing washers under the injectors, 3 had been letting combustion gases past the seal and so contaminating the oil and over a period of time the carbon had built up on the gauze oil pick up in the sump to the extent that oil could no longer pass through it thus causing a partial seizure.

  • Berlingo Gearbox Whine & Wear - Berlingo Gearbox Whine & Wear 7 Mar 2016 (Forum)
Has come out the garage, and it now has a gearbox whine in 1st-5th, and its very hard to get into the gears with clutch fully depressed. Is now back in garage, they have charged me for gearbox oil, but tech said he didn't re-new it, juts put old lot back in. The gears selected fine and made no noise at all before clutch change, in fact the box was absolutly fine. Garage has drained oil out for 2nd time and has now found metal filings in the oil.
