"About 8 months ago my car had a service... new air filter, fuel filter, oil filter, spark plugs, oil etc etc etc.... Since then it stutters and hesitates during acceleration. Before the service I could be going up hill in 5th gear doing approx 30mph and no stutter or nothing. -
Bad Garage guide ! 13 May 2016 (Forum)
I had to call recovery services and they mentioned that Turbo hose was not fitted firmly(after sensor change in garage), causing oil leak into the engine and surrounding area. However they fixed the hose and straight away power returned to the car. I took the car back to the car centre and they are now suggesting an engine clean which they don't do apparently! -
Ford 2011 Zetec Mondeo 140 tdci - Ford Mondeo 2011- Engine malfunction light!! 24 Aug 2013 (Forum)
I carried on driving the car (still performing exactly the same) until about 18,000 miles when the light eventually came on. I took it back to fords who told me that the light indicated a deterioration in my oil and oil filter. They changed the oil and filter, which I paid for because this wasn't covered under warranty. I also paid for a pcm update, as I was told it needed one. A couple of hundred miles later the light came on again. -
Vx Omega Rocker Cover 3 Feb 2011 (Forum)
I have cleaned the shiny area where the gasket will run. I cleaned the plug wells 1,2,& 3 were filthy and No. 1 was especially full of old sludgy oil ( as were 2 & 3 but not so much oil), thrown out the plugs. So my questions are now: 1. What sort of silicone do I use to help seal the RC gasket? 2. Do I only use the silicone where the gasket has to go over the two humps at the front and the two dips at the back of the engine? -
Mondeo TDCI Injector String of Problems 4 Mar 2007 (Forum)
They then told me that Ford were aware of this problem are awaiting the issue of the new software to come out (how much i believe this, i do not know). In the last two weeks i have started to smell burning oil, opening the bonnet last week to see white smoke come out of theright hand side injector. Took back to the same garage who said it was a loose pipe. Again got fivge minutes down the road, could still smell oil. -
Suggested maintenance 6 Jul 2003 (Forum)
The car only cost me £450 (with 6 months T&T, private sale) but as i'm on a severely tight budget i need advice on what to prioritise and concentrate on first. The obviouse engine oil/filter change is planned for but what others? The diff doesn't exactly whine....more of a 'ssshhhhhh'....and i've been advised by a local small motor factors shop to replace the oil in there with the Lucas Oil additive detailed here... -

Vauxhall Zafira DTI - Simple replacement for my trusty Zafira 31 Oct 2012 (Forum)
It is pre-common rail so it has a traditional diesel with a turbo. It is chain cam - I have changed the oil regularly - and does not have any of the additions that seem to plague the modern diesel such as a complex common rail system or a diesel particulate filter. Unfortunately its reliability is not recognized by the Government who now want to tax it at 200 per year because its emissions are a little high (is everybody else with an older car grumpy that the taxation is retrospective?). -
Jaguar XJ 3.2 V8 sport 1998. - Torque converter. 23 Dec 2010 (Forum)
I would like advice as to what to do next because the car has only recently come out of the same garage having had the gearbox oil and filter changed and I wondered if this latest fault could somehow be connected or is it just a coincidence and bad luck? I'm unsure what to do next and would welcome any advice that could be given. -

Peugeot 307 SW (2002 - 2008) - 2005 2.0 How do I prime the fuel filter 27 Feb 2009 (Forum)
I have just bought a 2005 307SW 2.0 90bhp. I changed the oil and filter this afternoon and attempted to drain the water from the fuel filter as per Haynes. (I have previously owned low pressure Peugeot diesels and have never drained the water, but changed the filters regularly.) -
Renault Clio II (1998 - 2001) - 98 1.6 cam belt change 16 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Hi, We have had our Clio since nearly new, had the cambelt done by the Renault dealer (Renault Minute dept) 5 years ago (cost £200 inc oil + filter),... -
Peugeot 106 (1991 - 2002) - 2001 - 1100cc - very rough running in wet weather 10 Apr 2008 (Forum)
She didn't have any service history with it and hasn't had any servicing done since getting it. I've recently done the oil and filter and the cam-belt / tensioner / water pump. Air filter still need still be changed - am going to tap that out in a bit. It runs well most of the time but when the weather is very wet it runs very rough - kangaroos, sounds like it's missing etc. -
Astra 1.7DTL surging problem 3 Jun 2007 (Forum)
The engine is very clean and I change the oil & filter at least twice a year. I have also checked the valve timing, pump timing with a dial gauge. I don't really suspect cylinder compression because it starts so well from cold. But still I have this problem. -
jumpy/smoky F. fiesta, injector leak? 2 Feb 2007 (Forum)
opened up the bonnet, around the right injector there is a lot of dark soot (lost for the correct description, it's not oil, but black stuff on the metal) i've been reading, alot, what i've found so far is that dark smoke is too rich air mixture....i know the air filter is due a change, would that by itself be enough to cause the problems? -
Yipee it's here 13 Mar 2005 (Forum)
After 7 years with my trusty 528SE my new 535d Sport has arrived, I kept the 528 as I hardly drive it (43k) and I just could not justify changing it. I believe that when you load a car with extras it changes the economics of used car values. Three bits of advice / thoughts please 1. Do I de-badge it? 2. I need to install a camera / radar detector but need to be fitted discretly, with possible radar unit behind front grill. -
306 d-turbo smoke 30 Nov 2003 (Forum)
Also it doesn't feel quite as quick as it once was... doesn't always have the same kick when the turbo cuts in but sometimes does. I've changed the glow plugs, done all the usuall oil and filter changes and it's just had a new battery. One odd thing I noticed was that one of the old glow plugs either had a build up of carbon around it or it had expanded (Swolen up) in one place. -
Honda Prelude Type-S, opinions? 31 Oct 2003 (Forum)
As far as I can tell the car is clean, both in terms of its history and the condition it's in now. The current owner has had it for two years, he's changed the oil every six months, changed the plugs and other routine jobs - he's had nothing whatsoever go wrong with it. Thing is, even with Honda's build quality, I'm a bit nervous about buying a six year old sports car - I suppose there could be a lot of expensive stuff waiting to go wrong, but on the other hand it is a lovely motor. -
306 Dturbo starting 17 May 2003 (Forum)
It doesnt use any oil(between 6k changes) or water. If its been warm and not fully cooled it has to crank a lot longer than when its cold before firing up. Not starting until the plug light has been off for a few seconds used to help reduce smoke. -
