GOLF 2L MARK4 GTI - CUTTING OUT WHEN SLOWING OR STOPPING 5 Feb 2011 (Forum)
Hi everyone My golf keeps cutting out when i slow or stop and is very lumpy when idling and sometimes also cuts out when idling i have replaced within the last month as follows spark plugs and leads, oil and filter, i cleaned the throttle butterfly, air mass meter, collant temp sender, and both lambda sensors (very expensive) this just started yesterday after i changed the leads again because i felt like there was a miss and i brought the last set of leads of ebay (never agan) and sometimes when i turn a corner the oil pressure warning light comes on plus i was getting a clicking from the engine somewhere i read this could be that the oil needed topping up so i did and the clicking went and also the warning light stop coming on but i keeps happening so i top up and stops again (bit worried about this as there is not an oil leak anywhere) please can anybody help me with any of these problems Thanks -
Rover 200 (1995 - 1999) - 96 1.4 timing marks 3 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Hi ive just changed my waterpump on my Rover 214si N reg and as far as im aware ive lined all the timing marks up correctly ie:exhauste pully pointing towards inlet pully and locked them in place with locking tool, ive also lined flywheel pully up with the oil pump marking which is about 1 ocklock as you look at the engine in the standing position there are also some other marks on the plastic cover and one of them says TDC my question is to i use the TDC marks to time up my car to run smoothly or is it the oil pump mark i should use to time my car up beacause ive used the oil pump mark and lined both my cams up properly and my car runs erratically ?. -
red warning light - pull over or foot on the gas? 12 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Have a read/watch video here: http://www.chrismartenson.com/crashcourse/chapter-18-environmental-data The jist of it is that we are fast using up our easy to get resources (oil, minerals etc) and as these resources get ever harder (or require more energy to extract) the world as we know it will change. I think many people do not realise that the only reason we have the 'modern world' is down to the cheap and easy energy given to us by natural gas and oil reserves. -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 2001 (Y), 1.8 TDDi Ghia 15 Feb 2008 (Forum)
So my question is - is it normal for a turbo to expel used oil slightly or is that B.S. to get the sale done? If not, then what do I need to ask is done on the car before the money changes hands? Franchised dealer, car in reasonable nick, done around 57k miles. -
Astra 1.7TD - valve rocker thingy broken 11 Aug 2007 (Forum)
Long story behind this one! My sister forgot to put the oil filler cap back on her 1996 GM 1.7 diesel, and consequently the oil drained out and the car overheated and stopped on a steep hill. Trailered home where I refilled with fresh oil and surprisingly, it ran fine, although a bit tappetty. -

Honda Civic - Honda servicing plan 6 Feb 2016 (Forum)
What happens is the dealer sells you a sevice deal that indicates annual/12,500 services including oil but when you go for a service they only do what the onboard computer says - excluding oil if the computer says no. In my case it would have meant a return to the garage in about 4 months for oil. Not convenient and taking me to 16 month oil change. -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 1999 1.8 Tapping noise from under the bonnet ?? 28 Nov 2009 (Forum)
Also I have posted other questions concerning an oil change I had done last November when they put 10w-40 oil in. Like I said I went back the following day and they supposedly put the correct 5w30 oil in. If they had been dishonest and not done what I requested could this have caused the noise I have now i.e. to do with the thicker 10w40 oil and the tappets issue ? -
