  • Service with a sneer 22 Mar 2007 (Forum)
When I returned the fitter was closing the bonnet, so thinking the job was done I wandered over. I was then informed that they could not change the oil because someone had rounded the drain plug nut. On seeing my raised eybrows the guy told me that they did not have a socket that would grip it, and when i suggested a mole grip he cocked a deaf 'un.

  • Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 97 XSi Phase 1 has my head gasket gone? 16 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Until the first time I put my foot down. A few hundred miles later and it seems to have sealed up so I start the next job. an oil leak, seemingly coming from the rocker gasket. it's running down by the front left engine mounting (as you stand at the front of the car). Gasket changed and drive away, still leaking and now there's white emulsion on the oil filler cap. not only that it's pushing oil up through the spark plug threads.
  • VW Passat 3c2 1.9tdi BXE (PD) - Engine rebuild break-in oil query 24 May 2016 (Forum)
I also plan on installing a new kolbenschmidt camshaft (incl. lifters) as lobes are worn on my own head. (previous owner may have used incorrect oil) I will be using assembly lube along the way also. Now to my query that some of you may have experience with. As I'm replacing rings etc. I will have to run-in the engine for the first couple of hundred miles or and complete a number of oil changes.
  • Chevrolet Aveo - Coolant Loss, Engine light, Warranty etc 26 Dec 2015 (Forum)
He dismissed this saying it had been pressure tested and was made of metal and never went wrong  He then informed me the oil and oil filter hadn't been changed during last service. Checked myself to find pollen filter hadn't been changed either. Sorted all that myself. So now my 5 year warranty might be in question!? Another fight for another day.
  • Peugeot 207 - Stalling when Cold 10 Nov 2022 (Forum)
When it heats up there is no issue at all so it only happens when it is cold! • Citroen C4 - Stop oil pressure low, just had head gasket repair 20 Jun 2015 (Forum)
Hi I have a Citroen c4 56 plate 77k miles on the clock. I had a blown head gasket as my oil was leaking into the coolant. Had this repaired at the garage and they also changed the cam belt. 2 days later, covering only 50 miles on short distances the car started cutting out when the engine got hot and was low revs (at traffic light for example).
