Honda Accord UK (1998 - 2003) - 1999 2.0 very poor mpg 31 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Im pretty sure it used to do about 290-300 to the tank only a year or two ago. It recently failed emissions at MOT. So after that, i had the rear exhaust changed, the o2 lamba sensor changed (original honda one), i had a basic service (spark, oil, air filter), also engine flush, no smoke etc. I also had the timing belt done (it was due, 98k miles on the clock) It passed the MOT without issue, but im sure the mpg has plummeted. -
New Leon TDi 110 alternator belt - when? 5 May 2005 (Forum)
Reason for asking is that mine is frayed on one side after 54k miles, and when I called in for my local mechanic have a look at it, he insisted on driving me home in his car so that mine wouldn't go another yard before the belt was changed. He asked if I'd kept up the service schedule, which I have - I even had the timing belt changed early and I change oil/filters more frequently than the schedule. He didn't want to commit himself, but wondered if the frayed edge might have been spotted or the belt changed before now. -
Diesel fuel filters, changed too often? 7 Jan 2016 (Forum)
Regards NB I change the *oil* filters at half the normal interval and this is just debate really. I have no serious intention of leaving the Derv filters..but. fact is, they really are VERY clean when you cut one open. -
Vauxhall Monterey transmission judder 26 Apr 2014 (Forum)
Levels carefully checked. No change. Propshaft examined by garage (and me). No obvious signs of wear at all. UJ?s and splines greased, again probably for the first time! No change. Back axle oil drained and refilled. Whine greatly reduced. -

hi eveyone. could anyone please help? my dti was running fine untill i decided to change the fuel filter. Since then then ive had trouble everyday starting, mainly after its been standing for longer than 5 hrs or so. I have changed the fuel filter housing thinking i may of damaged it, but no change. there is deisel spraying out of all injectors once its started and it runs great then. ive also cleaned the EGR vave and another sensor in the manifold which were badly oiled up but still no change. -
Volkswagen Passat (2001 - 2005) - '03, 1.9 PD TDi - low mpg 19 Feb 2008 (Forum)
The figures have since dropped to high 30s to a max of about 47mpg (taking it really easy) but I've not noticed a change in performance. I have changed the fuel filter, air filter and pollen filter for non oem parts but all are Mann products (parts were previously oem). I was also using synthetic oil (left over from when it was on a long service interval) and have since changed to semi-synthetic (fixed service interval) - correct VW spec. -
DIY service 2001 A4 TDi 130 22 Oct 2006 (Forum)
I intend to service the car every 5k or maybe 10k miles, I have not yet decided. This was the first time I had changed an element style oil filter as opposed to the more common (in my humble experience) screw on all in one type. I was interested to find the oil filter on top of the engine under the silver engine trim beside what looks like the fuel filter. -

Honda Shuttle/Odyssey (1995 - 2000) - 1999 2.3 Holds 2nd gear in kick-down 25 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Lifting off the pedal slightly then makes it change up. I don't know, maybe this is normal? Don't think so though. Car is going to my local indy at the end of the week for a full service. Will ask hime to change all fluids incl. auto oil, brake fluid coolant etc. -
SEAT Ibiza FR 1.0 TSi - 5 year 80,000 Mile Review 29 Dec 2024 (Forum)
I now get it serviced by my trusted indy. I’ve had both the front and rear brake pads and discs changed once. When I bought the car, I bought a top-up bottle of engine oil. I like to keep the oil level on the maximum (I know many on the forum disagree with my view). Sometimes I top the oil up once between services. -
Ford Focus - Squeaking noise above 30mph Ford Focus 16 May 2020 (Forum)
Hi all hope someone may be able to shed some light for me: Ford Focus, 2012, 1.6 petrol with just over 60k on clock. Recently serviced (oil change) in March 20, timing belt and pump changed Sept 19. Recently, when driving over 30mph I experience a squeaking noise, quite slight (can be hidden by a low volume conversation in the car). It is not heard at low speeds below 30mph. -

Astra 1.3cdti - Astra 1.3cdti lack of boost 29 Oct 2017 (Forum)
HI All Have searched lots of forums but yet to find definitive answer. Had the oil, fuel and air filter changed and after it, after a low buzzing noise from boost solenoid, the turbo stopped boosting and car became sluggish (don't think it was limp mode) Read the codes and were to do with MAF and EGR. -
VolkswagenJetta - VW Jetta 1.4 DSG 19 Dec 2015 (Forum)
Now i'm wondering if it's worth putting it in to an independant to have the Timing Chain checked out. I know the gearbox oil is changed at 40000 as it's only done 29000 would it be adviseable to change being as the car is nearly over 7 years old. I don't have the log book yet or would contact the previous owner to see if he has had any problems with the T/C or DSG. -
Vauxhall Meriva - Water Leakage 26 Oct 2012 (Forum)
My car was leaking water but i could not pin point the location as everything was dry including the floor. I was filling it before every journey. Had to change headlight bulb today after changing the bulb started the engine to check if everything is o.k. when all of sudden water started to flow from a small hole very close to the belt like a fountain and drained the tank in a couple of minutes. -

Renault Scenic (2003 - 2009) - Coolant life 21 Nov 2008 (Forum)
The Mégane used glycol, and the coolant changed every 20,000 miles or 2 years. The Scénic however requires coolant changes at 70,000 miles or seven years. -- yet is still apparently on a glycol-based fluid. Can anyone explain, please? -
Ford Dealer in USA 27 Sep 2007 (Forum)
Then "wipers are squeaky - $29". That kind of made me wonder about the other items! Anyway the transmission fluid, oil change, fuel and air filter change came to $275 inclusive.
