Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 96 1.8D Sump plug 26 Sep 2009 (Forum)
While doing an oil change I lost the nylon sump plug washer. Put the plug back without the washer, no leaks at the moment. How important is this? -
Long service intervals on way out? 5 Apr 2006 (Forum)
I notice that the new Euro 4 compliant Laguna 2.0 dCi has a service interval every 9K instead of 18K. Is this to service the particulate filter and/or change the oil? Does anyone know? -

Sump plug valve 16 Nov 2002 (Forum)
Anyone out there know where you can get those valves that replace the sump plug to make oil change easier? I know aeroquip make them for small plane engines, but can't find any for cars. -
Ford Transit - 2007 Transit 2.2 tdci - Sump Level going up!!! 29 Nov 2010 (Forum)
Van was serviced day before I purchased it. Drove the thing home - 400 miles, following day I checked the oil level and noticed it was 3/4" above the upper mark. Thought the garage had overfilled the thing so changed the oil and filter myself. Made sure it wasn't overfilled, checked it a couple of times and it was 3/4 on the dipstick. -
Audi A4 (1995 - 2000) - 1999 2.5 TDI Quattro blue smoke on acceleration 27 Apr 2008 (Forum)
It drove fine on test drive, however, I noticed there is blue smoke coming out of exhaust when driven hard at low speeds. The smoke definitely smells like oil not diesel. It only comes out when it's warm and no smoke when rev at stationary. It recently had a turbo change so I suspect it was the oil left in the exhaust and my mechanic checked the exhaust said there is a bit of deposition in the exhaust. -
BMW 320d fuel/oil leak 27 Jul 2006 (Forum)
My recently purchased 51 plate 320d touring (30k with full BMWSH) has been dropping small quantities of what I believe is either diesel or oil on my drive. There is also a strong smell of diesel coming through air con when sitting at junction etc. Are these 2 issues likely to be linked? I saw an item on this website about a known issue on 320d of this age saying fuel pump and filters are likely to need changing) The car was purchased from Lloyds Bank Car Select and came with full warranty. -
Audi A4 TFSi - Ridiculous Servicing Costs 25 Jun 2018 (Forum)
Hello all, Thought I'd just share my recent experience of trying to organise the first service for my 2017 A4 avant 2.0 TFSI. It's just done 12.5k and the car is telling me it needs an oil service in 700 miles and an inspection in 6k (6 months in our mileage). Thought I'd call the selling main dealer located in the newest city in Essex. No problem, 255.00 for the oil change 477.00 for the inspection 6 months down the line (not including oil / filter) 60.00 for a pollen filter (not included in the above) Broekn down that was 112 for the oil 17 for the filter and 174.00 per hour labour. -
Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - 1998 1.4 Should I stick to 15W-30 oil ? 14 Feb 2009 (Forum)
Can I make this change of oil type without a problem? Would it benefit my car's engine? I'll appreciate any comment... -
Yamaha 125cc: over breathing problem 20 Aug 2004 (Forum)
I am worried because I have looked after this bike with very frequent oil changes and services with out fail, and hope this does not mean the end of this wonderfully reliable bike. I have never thrashed the bike from cold, and there is no smoke from the engine at all. Your comments would be much appreciated. -
astra to be kept to age 10 plus 28 May 2005 (Forum)
Its only done 26,000 miles but we ensure it gets a good run once a week or so to avoid too many short journey problems. We've had the cambelt changed, do six month oil changes and it has a basic service once a year. Aircon is left on all year with occasional hot and cold runs as recommended by HJ to avoid problems. Checking the itemised service bills however I see that its never had a coolant or brake fluid change - despite the annual services being done by a main dealer. -

vw auto box problem 11 Dec 2003 (Forum)
The gearshift during acceleration feels like it is holding back and causing huge flatspots. It is ok 1st to 2nd but in the other changes it is very annoying. I have had engine diagnostics by VW dealer who say there is no issue there. Also have had trans oil changed but problem still exists. Have changed plugs & leads as well. Also revs stutter quite badly when I have come to a stop then settle after a few seconds. -
Ford Mondeo Edge TDCI 125 2010 - Oil pressure light on, faulty radio & engine loss 4 Feb 2017 (Forum)
Engine sounded rough and rang the mechanic to look at it the next day. He put it on the diagnostic machine but nothing showed up. He has changed the oil filter and ensured the right level of oil is there in case I had overfilled. I then drove it out of the garage and about 1 mile down the road it conked out. I called the mechanic who wants me to drop the key back to him to ook at it tomorrow. -
what oil for X5 3.0 ltr petrol ??? 19 Nov 2005 (Forum)
hiya i am after having an oil change on my bmw X5 3.0litre 2001,just usual spark plugs air filter oil filter and oil.i normally get my bmw parts from euro parts or german and swedish.being i bit of a tight wad!!! :)anyway getin to the point, the mechanic where i usually take my car has said it would be fine with semi synthetic 10w/40. and thats what he would put in if i just dropped it off and didnt give him any parts,i understand hes not a bmw mechnic, but hes been in the job for nearly 20 years.when i went to g+s they recommended i get the fully synthetic 0w/30 and they dont do this, best they have is 5w/40.they said its not worth risking an engine for the sake of 50 quid and said i was best to go to bmw and get what they would use which i think would be the 0w/30 castrol edge.euro parts said it would be fine with there oil which is fully synthetic 0w/40,so i just need someones advise on the the oil situation, do i stop being a tight wad and fork out nearly 100 quid in oil from bmw, or get the 0w/40 from euro parts.it just seems every person in the motor trade has different advise on oil.thank you for any advise you could give me on this matter ,michael -
2019 Peugeot 2008 1.2puretech 130 EAT6 - Oil burner? 8 Feb 2025 (Forum)
I have seen complaints about this engine's excessive oil use so I thought I would report my own observation having kept a careful eye on this since new. The big '0' has just arrived - just turned 30,000 miles; 10k and nearly two years since the last change.
