GTI Plus DSG £22,645

The entry-level Polo GTI comes with a decent amount of equipment. Standard features include halogen front lights, LED daytime running lights, rear LED lights, a height- and reach-adjustable steering wheel, illuminated vanity mirrors, ambient interior lighting, VW’s eight-inch media system, air conditioning, electric windows, parking sensors, a drive mode selector, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, a hill-hold control system, start-stop, front airbags, side airbags in the front, curtain airbags for front and rear passengers, two ISOFIX seat mounts in the rear and a forward warning collision system with emergency braking and pedestrian monitoring. An ‘XDS’ electronic differential lock boosts traction and improves the GTI’s handling, while sports suspension gives it more poise; it also comes with cosmetic upgrades, featuring 17-inch wheels, a gloss back spoiler, more aggressively styled bumpers, bespoke interior trim and a twin-exit exhaust.

The range-topping Polo GTI Plus builds on the entry-level model with some useful and appealing options. As well as all of the standard version’s equipment, it further benefits from LED headlights, automatic light activation, tinted rear glass, rain-sensing wipers, an auto-dipping rear-view mirror, electrically heated, adjustable and folding mirrors, keyless entry with start/stop, a smart 10.5-inch digital instrument cluster and adaptive cruise control.
