Recommend a small MPV for a shorter driver with good economy?

"My wife and I are both age 74. I have a terminal illness which means I may not be able to drive again. The likelihood is that I will dispose of my 2006 Ford C-Max and we will replace my wife's 2004 Ford Fiesta 1.4 Ghia (which she has had from new) with a more comfortable, but probably used, car that suits my wife, who is short, and me as a tall passenger. We have owned Fords for many years but will appreciate your suggestions, please, on which cars to consider. You have, I believe, recommended in the past the 1.25 Fiesta as providing a good and economical drive but, which other 5-door hatchbacks would you recommend? My wife drives only about 5000 miles per year, often short journeys."
The Toyota Yaris was always good for smaller people. I had a 4-foot 11-inch wife who was very happy with her Yaris-based Vios. You could also look at the Verso S, which is a small Yaris-based MPV that 'Which' subscribers nominated to be the most reliable MPV. Otherwise, Ford B-Max, Hyundai ix20, KIA Venga, or the smaller Suzuki Splash and Vauxhall Agila.

Can you recommend a small automatic car for a disabled driver?

"My wife is mildly disabled and drives with hand controls. She currently has a 2004 Ford Fiesta 1.6 with an automatic gearbox. The time has come for a new car and she wants another automatic, no bigger than her Fiesta, with a petrol engine. She drives only short distances, but we live in the Lake District, so a bit of power is necessary. Our nearest dealers are Audi, Toyota and Volkswagen. Can you recommend a good car, preferably with five doors? "
Toyota stopped importing the Verso S, but the automatic version of that was very slow anyway. I can't recommend Audi/Volkswagen s-tronics and DSGs. So I'd point her towards a Ford B-Max 1.6 Powershift auto.

Which automatic petrol car could I replace my Audi A4 with?

"I am soon to change my 2010 Audi A4 TDI (170) and I would like to buy something with higher seating. I am considering a Honda CR-V or a Toyota New Verso. I will be buying an automatic petrol engine. I am going for an automatic because of knee problems and I do not think we do enough mileage now for a diesel engine. "
The Verso 1.8i Valvematic Multidrive S offers a very pleasant drive. It is by far the nicest Verso to drive. This test is of the pre-facelift, but the current facelift model is pretty much the same underneath: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/toyota/toyota-verso-2009-road-test//

Which petrol, automatic MPV do you recommend?

"I want to change my car and my simple requirements are: Medium MPV-style vehicle, petrol automatic and quietness inside the cabin. My first choice would be a C-Max but there is no such model with these features. I've since discovered that there only appear to be cars with these characteristics (petrol/auto) at the premium end of the market. Can you help me?"
Toyota Verso 1.8i Valvematic Multidrive S. This is a test and video of the older, pre-facelift model. But the new facelifted Verso is the same underneath: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/toyota/toyota-verso-2009-road-test//
