1.8 TFSI multitronic 2dr Auto Open Car

Very comfortable and relaxing to drive, jury is out on reliability

I've had this car for three months now and have done just over 1500 miles. It is very comfortable on longer journeys, and seats are supportive and the car is smooth and fairly quiet with the hood up. For a convertible it is remarkably practical, with a good sized boot and decent access to the rear seats. The latter, however, are not as comfortable as the ones on my previous A4 convertible. The much maligned Multitronic auto is actually quite good, especially on motorways and A roads, although initial pick up from rest can be a bit hesitant. Performance from the 1.8t engine is pretty good, and an average of 33mpg isn't bad. Overall I would say it is a cruiser rather than an A road blaster, but that suits my style of driving these days.

The negatives are that both the gearbox and the engine seem to lose oil at a scary rate. Three months and 1500 miles after a full oil change I had to replace one litre, and the gearbox oil was low at the service, although this might have been due to a late change (worrying as the gearbox oil needs replaced every 40,000 miles). The car has done just 74,000 miles but I've had to replace both front and rear brake discs and pads. It's the engine oil thing that worries me most, especially as there is no dip stick, just a stupid and complicated reading on the silly MMI thing.

A nice car, but not sure I fully trust it now. Probably my last Audi
