VIDEO: Peugeot 508 review - don't buy German until you try this

Published 18 December 2018

The new Peugeot 508 is genuinely remarkable...in fact, we reckon it's a proper alternative to the German thing you're probably thinking about buying. Really.

Click play above to watch Mark's take, then let us know what you think below - of the car, that is.

Morning Mark,

Previous road test videos from you have included way too many silly and childishly embarrassing innuendos, but this car is of interest to me, so I decided to grit my teeth and watch...pleasantly surprised and not by just the car. You managed to resist the temptation to indulge yourself and have therefore made a very watchable piece.

May this long continue.

I find the way you laud German cars bizarre. Elsewhere on the HJ website, in the motoring agony column and the 'Ask HJ' sections, it is made abundantly clear that German cars are not nearly as good as the world thinks. And yet here you seem to be saying that they are the best. This inconsistency devalues the site in my opinion.

I would like to see you forget this adoration of all things German and just produce a review that offers factual advice about the car in hand. The Peugeot 508 is good, it is worth what it costs, and the unreliable Germans are not worth the extra. Simple.

Hey Hobbyist101,

Cheers for giving everyone a lesson: we'll call it 'missing the point 101'.

Regards,

Herr Nichol.

Yeah, because why should I have the right to respond to disproportionately vitriolic and/or misinformed criticism? :-)

So much for Peugeot not discounting any of the new 508s and restricting supply so others can't either: Drive the Deal is already offering the

PEUGEOT 508 FASTBACK SPECIAL EDITIONS 1.6 PURETECH 225 FIRST EDITION 5DR EAT8

which has a RRP of 37,014 with £6,760.80 discount, giving a price of £30,253.20
