Plates 'may set pulses racing'

Tue, 13 Jan 2009
People who are passionate about private plates may find 2009 sets their pulses racing, it has been suggested.

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency explained it will be selling its O-series of personalised registrations during six auctions being held around the country in the next 12 months.

It predicted the 1 O plate was likely to generate most interest.

Marketing manager Damian Lawson said: "1 O is arguably one of the last great jewels in our crown."

The plate is scheduled to go under the hammer at Whittlebury Hall in Northamptonshire as part of a three-day event starting on January 28th.

Other sales are due to take place in March, June, August, October and December - with 2 O through to 6 O being made available to bidders.

In related motoring news, retired businessman Rob Harverson shelled out £197,000 for a plate with the personalised registration 1 RH last November.
