Euro NCAP gives Nissan Navara three star rating

Fri, 14 Mar 2008
Vehicle testing scheme the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) has given three-stars to Nissan's new pick-up the Navara.

The Japanese car manufacturer has announced that the group achieved the maximum score available when it assessed its side impact system, while it also proved to do very well protecting a three-year-old.

In adult occupation assessment, the firm scored well after having difficulty due to a problem with the deployment of its front airbags.

However, the firm went developed a software modification to iron out the issue.

"Nissan's Navara was awarded an improved score of three stars in adult occupant protection in a reassessment test conducted by the Euro NCAP following a modification to the pickup truck's airbag control unit software," said the firm.

It was only last month that Euro NCAP announced that it would be testing pick-up vehicles.

Apart from the Navara, the Mitsubishi L200 and Isuzu D-MAX were among the first tested.ADNFCR-1081-ID-18510671-ADNFCR
