Peugeot unveils 508 RXH

Peugeot has unveiled the 508 RXH - a diesel-electric hybrid that is due to go on sale in Spring 2012. Based on the 508 SW it's fitted with a 2.0-litre HDi HYbrid4 engine, which was first seen in the 3008 HYbrid4, giving it 200bhp, four-wheel drive and maximum torque of 450Nm.

The hybrid system averages a claimed 62.7mpg with emissions of 109g/km plus it features a 100 per cent electric mode for town driving. Higher and wider than a 508 SW, the 508 RXH gets special features including daytime running LED lights, giving an impression of three vertical ‘lion claws’ plus a ‘floating’ grille.

Set to be unveiled as a world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2011, the 508 RXH interior gets a keyless entry system, electric front seats, a head up display, 18-inch wheels, a panoramic glass roof, dark-tinted acoustic laminated side windows, the latest generation audio and satellite navigation unit plus a premium quality interior.

After the launch of the 3008 HYbrid4 later this year, Peugeot will extends its HYbrid4 technology to other models.
