Geneva Motor Show 2015: Spider version of the Alfa Romeo 4C revealed

Published 25 February 2015

Alfa Romeo has premiered the production-ready 4C Spider at the Geneva Motor Show. The drop-top sports car will cost £59,500 when it goes in sale in the UK this summer.

The Spider has been designed to remain open most of the time, but a cloth roof is available and is attached and removed manually. It can be stowed in the car - so no worries about sudden rain storms. It can be specified in carbon fibre optionally.

The engine is shared with the coupe – a four-cylinder turbochared 1750cc petrol with 250PS. Thanks the 4Cs lightweight chassis and bodywork, 0-62mph takes 4.5-seconds. Transmission is a dual-clutch automatic with six speeds.

Aside from the obvious lack of roof, the styling is more or less unchanged from the coupe. That said, there is a new headlight design which is more traditional and less bug-eyed. Additionally there is a vibrant new yellow paint finish on offer.

There are also new alloy wheel designs, plus buyers can specify an Akrapovic exhaust system which is mounted centrally and finished in carbon fibre.
