BlueMotion VW Golf may tempt green motorists

Mon, 06 Jul 2009
People who have been considering buying a car that can help them minimise their impact on the environment may want to pay a visit to their local Volkswagen dealership.

The manufacturer has announced a new BlueMotion version of its latest Golf is imminent.

With CO2 emissions of 107 g/km, the vehicle will be the most environmentally-friendly edition of the model yet and will qualify for annual road tax of £35 a year.

In addition, it may be able to help motorists reduce the amount they spend at the pump as it boasts fuel economy of 68.9 mpg.

The car is equipped with a 1.6-litre TDI diesel engine and will be released at the same time as two other versions of the auto fitted with the same unit.

Available to order immediately, first deliveries of all three vehicles are scheduled for September.

Meanwhile, the Golf recently drove away with the green accolade at this year's Towcar Awards.
