Supercars among CarFest North highlights

Published 25 July 2013

Lamborghinis, Jaguars, retro F1 cars and Ferraris including Chris Evans’ ‘Magnificent Seven’ will be among the highlights at CarFest North, which takes place 2-4 August at Oulton Park, Cheshire. It’s the brainchild of BBC Radio 2 DJ and car lover Chris Evans and raises funds for Children in Need. Other highlights include musical performances from Jamie Cullum and Scouting for Girls.

Among the vehicles on display at the event is a McLaren M23 once driven by racing driver James Hunt, from the 1976 that forms the backdrop for the upcoming Rush movie, directed by Ron Howard. Alongside that will be a Lotus 77 – both are to perform in a sprint event.

Other highlights include vehicles from Ferrari, much loved by Chris Evans. One notable appearance will be a Ferrari 250 GTO owned by Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason, one of the most sought after and valuable cars on the planet. Chris Evans will also be parading his collection of Ferrari models.

There’s also to be an auction for which a Jaguar E-Type has been donated. It’s expected to reach £40,000 and all proceeds go to charity. There’s also to be stars from Lamborghini and Aston Martin, both of which are celebrating milestones in 2013, along with a selection of motorbikes for the first time at CarFest.

CarFest started in 2012 and, over two events, it raised £968,735 for Children in Need. Now in its second year the event kicks off in the North, in Cheshire, but it will also return to Laverstoke Park Farm, Hampshire from 23-25 August. 25% of the ticket price is guaranteed to go to Children in Need.
