Prestige motors 'attracting interest at auction'

Thu, 25 Jun 2009
The number of prestige motors being sold at auction is on the rise, it has been reported.

BCA revealed it has experienced increased demand for high-performance cars over the past few weeks.

Among the autos sold at recent sales have been a 2008 Lamborghini Gallardo coupe that fetched £85,000 and a 2003 Ferrari 360 Modena that went for £56,400.

In addition to this, a 2007 Aston Martin V8 Vantage was snapped up for £50,400 and a Maserati Quattroporte V8 Executive GT saloon produced in the same year attracted a final bid of £50,400.

BCA operations director Simon Henstock said the change in the market was not a total surprise.

"Interest has been building all year ... and values have improved notably in recent weeks," he explained.

This comes after BCA reported a rise in demand for soft-top models.

According to the group, this is probably down to the fact experts are predicting a scorcher of a summer.
