Called Prado in some markets; Colorado in others. 3 litre 123 bhp 4-cylinder diesel manual or automatic, or 176 bhp 3.4 litre V6 petrol automatic with cruise control.

Most have five doors. Re-styled for 2000 model year. UK list prices cut by £2,500 in October 2000.

New 3.0 litre common rail direct injected diesel engine from 1/2/2001. The new engine puts out 161bhp but, more importantly for a 4x4, a stonking 253 lb ft torque (343Nm) at just 1,600 rpm. Prices started at £23,795, rising to £31,695. Fuel consumption was quoted at 30.1mpg on the combined cycle and CO2 emissions 287g/km.
