Peugeot e-2008 revealed

Peugeot has announced its new 2008 crossover will be available as an electric e-2008, capable of covering 193 miles on a charge.

The French manufacturer's answer to the Kia e-Niro and Hyundai Kona Electric, the Peugeot e-2008 shares a platform with the DS 3 Crossback, as well as the upcoming Peugeot 208 and new Vauxhall Corsa. It's longer than the old 2008 and only marginally shorter than the bigger 3008.

The interior takes a similar approach to the 3008 and recent 508, meaning there'll be more soft-touch materials than before and a host of tech. There's Peugeot's i-Cockpit technology, featuring a small steering wheel and a new head-up display.

The e-2008 will feature a 136PS electric motor and 50kWh battery, capable of returning 193 miles of range under real-world WLTP testing. Capable of supporting 100kW rapid charging, the e-2008 can be charged to 80 per cent in around 30 minutes, while a full charge using a conventional 7.4kW home wallbox will take eight hours.

Prices are expected to start at around £25,000 in a bid to undercut electric rivals.
