Can you recommend a short estate car with a flat load space?

"We currently have a Peugeot 207 SW but reliability is making us think that it's time for a change. We prefer to have a short estate car with a flat load space and don't want to go any longer than the 207 SW (4,164mm), if possible. What do you recommend?"
Until recently, the Skoda Fabia Estate would have been a good option. It was one of the only small estate cars on the market and was very versatile for its size. The new model isn't available as an estate (there aren't plans to introduce one, either) – but there are still some pre-registered examples of the old car in showrooms. You might be able to bag a good deal if you're quick. Alternatively, we'd recommend a Honda Jazz. It's a very practical little car, slightly shorter in length than your 207 SW. It's likely to be very reliable while its hybrid engine setup means it ought to be cheap to run.

I want a new car with enough space for young kids. Can you help me choose?

"I want a new car but there's so much choice. I need to transport grandchildren and we live in the country so potholes are an everyday problem. I'd like it to be about the same size as my Peugeot 207 SW. Would have liked something sporty/convertible but that's not compatible with grandchildren! I've considered electric but as one lot of grandchildren are150 miles away, I might be better with petrol/hybrid. I have been looking at the Ford Puma but, due to current circumstances, I want to have a fair idea of what I want before I visit a dealer. I hope you might be able to help me."
It sounds like a small crossover SUV like the Ford Puma would suit your needs well. In fact, the Puma would probably be our choice - it's fun to drive, has a versatile interior and represents good value for money. You could also look at the Peugeot 2008 - especially if you like your current car - or Skoda Kamiq.

Leaky fuse box on Peugeot 207

"The ECU on my 2007 Peugeot 207 is throwing up warnings at random and switching lights and wipers on even when I'm not in the car. I’ve been told it could be water getting into the engine bay fuse box, how can I fix this?"
Open the fusebox. Dry it out. Then seal it. The problem has come up before.

Should daytime running lights have been fitted to my new Peugeot 207 SW?

"On taking delivery in June of a new Peugeot 207 SW manufactured in May 2013, I was surprised to discover that daytime running lights were not fitted, which I understood was mandatory on all new vehicles as per a European Commission Directive from August 2012. The local dealership insists that this is not a requirement as the 207 series was introduced prior to the Directive, irrespective of the handbook stating that DRLs are fitted on some vehicles according to country. Your comments and direction to follow would be appreciated."
As you have been told. They only had to be fitted on new models introduced from that date, not existing models built after that date.
