Is replacing a turbo an expensive job?

"I have a 10 year old Kia Cee’d and my garage has just identified that the turbo is producing a whistling noise on acceleration. They also gave me the impression that to replace the turbo would be an expensive job. I was hoping to get a few more years out of my car. Could you tell me how much it would be to replace the turbo? Will the car work without it?"
£1000 - £1500 to replace the turbo. You would also need to replace the turbo bearing oil feed and oil return pipes because carbonised oil in them probably led to oil starvation of the turbo bearing. No, the car won't run properly without the turbo.

What's the most reliable car over the past 10 years?

"What's the most reliable car over the past 10 years?"
Seems to be the Kia Cee'd which, not surprisingly, carries the longest car warranty, of seven years. JD Power's results reflect our own feedback, which is not the case for third place Skoda.

What is the best way to sell my 2008 Kia Cee'd?

"We're moving house and will only need one car, so I am selling my 2008 Kia Cee'd 1.6 petrol. I usually part exchange and am not comfortable with selling privately to strangers. I have heard bad things about the various car buying websites and don't think it's interesting enough for an auction. What is my best option?"
webuyanycar and wewantanycar are actually buyers for BCA and Manheim auctions so the prices offered depend on what the relevant makes and models are fetching at auction. If they don't want a car they simply make a derisory offer. If they do want it and if it is a model that is selling well, the vendor might be pleasantly surprised. Unfortunately I don't think a 2008 Cee'd 1.6 petrol fits that category. Your best option for the best money is to try to sell privately, don't let anyone take a test drive without proving they are insured to do so, and take payment from them in a bank where it can be deposited as cash into your account.

Should I replace my Kia Cee'd with a Kia Sportage?

"On your advice, I purchased a 2007 Kia Cee'd 1.4 S in 2008 which has been brilliant, I've only had to replace the battery. Being retired, I only do about 8000 miles a year so I'm considering replacing it with a new 1.7 Kia Sportage. What is your opinion and is it a chain cam engine?"
The Sportage 1.7 CRDi is very pleasant to drive because it develops maximum torque at low revs, but it's still a diesel, so repeated short runs from cold stats will lead to problems with the DPF. Yes, chain cam engine.
