In its day, the best looking four seater cabrio you could buy anywhere in the World. A4 B6 based Cabriolet in UK from Spring 2002. Looks gorgeous, based on classy A4 B6, at first with a choice of 2.4 litre 170bhp or 3.0 litre 220 bhp 30 valve V6 engines and 5-speed manual or auto boxes. Prices £24,620 for the 2.4 and £28,170 for the 3.0 Sport.

Standard kit includes 16-inch 5-arm Aero alloy wheels with 205/55 R16 tyres, remote central locking activating an alarm with interior microwave protection, electronic climate control, a leather 4-spoke multifunction steering wheel and a Concert stereo with single CD player.

Automatic roll-over protection system adds to extensive list of safety features already fitted to A4 saloon and Avant models. Sport versions gain 17-inch 5-spoke star alloy wheels with 235/45 R17 tyres, sports suspension, a sports leather steering wheel and sports seats with electric lumbar support. Switchable pasenger airbag.

Four-link front and trapezoidal-link rear suspension has been both lowered and tuned specifically to give a more sporting bias. Increase in body rigidity of 112 per cent compared with the old 80 based Cabriolet also brings benefits both dynamically and in terms of safety. New Cabriolet is more practical than 80 cabrio, offering genuine four seat capability and class-leading luggage capacity thanks to a wheelbase which has been extended by 100mm. Electro-hydraulically operated hood with a heated glass rear window is standard.

A4 Cabriolet 2.5 TDI opened for UK orders in standard and Sport forms from 16-8-2002, with on the road prices of £26,385 and £27,135 respectively. Has a 163bhp, 2.5-litre turbo V6. With six-speed manual can accelerate to 60mph in 9.5 seconds, reach a maximum speed of 140mph and cover just over 39mpg (combined cycle), while emitting low 194g/km of CO2 (2.4 V6 235g/km). Also comes with Multitronic auto.

6-speed manual standard on V6s from early Summer 2003. 163PS 1.8T at £25,545 from early Summer 2003, then 1.8T quattro at £26,015 and 3.0V6 quattro at £29,425 from September 2003 and 344PS 410Nm 4.2 S4 Quattro Cabrio with 18" Avus wheels and either 6-speed manual box at £40,275 or 6-speed Tiptronic at £41,675 from early 2004. Does 0-60 in 5.6 and limited to 155mph top. Sporting S line versions available to order from February 2005 priced from £26,975 OTR to £31,915 OTR.
