What should I look out for on a Transit-based campervan?
I have my eye on a Transit-based 2006 campervan with 75k on the clock. I owned an almost identical van from new in until 2008 but it was the previous model. I know what to expect habitation-wise but I'm concerned at what time might have done to the base van. Trouble is it's a unique and very, very rare conversion.

You're right to be wary. Many camper van buyers are blindsided by the conversion and fail to check the mechanics of the vehicle they're buying. First things first, check the history: it should have had a service every 12 months or 10,000 miles. Rust is also common on the Transit, especially around the door sliders and sills, as well as the wheel arches. Rough idlingis also something to listen out for, as it might suggest EGR value problems.
