Why are service intervals in the US generally shorter for the same car than in UK and Europe?
Common sense. The more frequently you change the oil and filter the longer an engine will last and in the US there are stations where you can drive in and get the oil and filter changed for £50. Longlife oil changes in Europe destroys engines and some manufacturers have been forced to revert from 20,000+ or service indicator oil changes to much more sensible 10,000 miles or annual oil changes.
