My insurance won't cover all the fire damage to my classic Ford Prefect - why?
I have a 1952 Ford Prefect insured third party, fire and theft. A fault in the trafficator caused the loom to short. The dash, headlining, door card, front carpet, steering wheel and driver's seat are burned. The insurance engineer said the loom chafed so is not covered (the item that starts the fire is not covered). The items covered are the front piece of carpet, one seat cover etc. I thought that a car would be returned to its pre-accident condition. Can half a car carpet be bought?

If the problem was caused by the poor condition of the car then it would not be covered.
