I'm thinking about a SEAT Leon SE for comfort and a quality interior - should I consider anything else?

I have driven a Volkswagen Golf 1.6 L and a Volvo S40 1.8 L, and love the drive, comfort, and solid interior in addition to their reliability. I now need a new car. I have a budget of £14,000 and am interested in a nearly-new version of a medium-sized car. The new Golf seems very pricy, and has a firm ride. I have been recommended a SEAT Leon SE (09), for a decent price with a 1.4 TSI engine, but I'm concerned about the firm ride and the quality of interiors. Any other suggestions? The engine is not as important as the comfort of the ride, and the quality of interiors. A quiet car would be really good. I drive mainly on A-roads and rough country roads.

The Renault Megane on 15-inch or 16-inch wheels offers the best ride quality in the class, and there are special offers on it.

Comfortable and quiet on the move, enjoyable to drive. Nicely trimmed with great attention to detail. 1.4 TSI sweeter to drive than a diesel.
