Will a nearly new diesel be difficult to sell on in the future?

I want to buy a secondhand (nearly new, maximum 12 months old) Ford Mondeo Estate. I'm not sure whether to go for petrol or diesel. Annual mileage is approximately 30,000, which would suggest diesel, but I'm concerned about higher maintenance costs as the car ages. Would possible punitive taxes/measures against diesel engines make re-sale more difficult or reduce the value of the car? I want a bit of oomph, so am thinking of either the 210PS diesel or 240PS petrol, with auto box.
Under 12 months old will be EU6 so don't expect punitive anti diesel taxes. Do expect some maintenance bills. Maybe a new or cleaned out DPF every 100,000 miles. Maybe a new EGR. And if it uses AdBlue, maybe a new Adblue heater. Plus, of course, a timing belt, tensioner and waterpump that you'd need on a Mondeo 1.5 or 1.6 Ecoboost petrol as well, though not on the 2.0 Ecoboost. The other way to look is at a Skoda Superb with the 1.4 TSI 150 COD petrol engine.
